How do I trouble shoot the nose diving on flight?

  1. Better tune the bypass shocks?

I’ve got a 97 Tacoma supercharged 3.4 and in the front I’ve got Camburg LT kit, king coils, king bypass, king bumps and strapped. Rear has deaver under springs, king bypasses and a spare tire. BUT I tend to nose dive on flight, any thoughts on what to consider?

Put some weight in the back :) have a video of flight? That would be cool to see. Nice looking pickup BTW!

I guess it depends on how it nose dives. Does it start diving right away after take off, like the rear end is bucking or not enough energy on the springs to lift the front on take off? Or is it more towards the end of flight that it nose dives? This would more than likely be a weight distribution issue and an easier fix. The take off "ramp" does play a big role in how flight goes. Out in the wild it's harder to predict so the best thing you can do is weight management.

    ^^^ this.

if the nose dives right on takeoff (more like the rear end kicks), that's likely a rear suspension issue. Slow down the rebound in the rear so it doesn't kick so hard.

But if the take off is smooth and controlled(ish), you likely just need more weight in the back, or less up front.

You need another option on the poll, though. All of the above is more likely. Pros get kicked and flip all the time, but you can at least try to control the variables you can control (suspension and weight).

2 spares in the back make you look even more bad-ass.

There's really too many variables to try and diagnose these kinds of issues over the internet. I'd say start with weight distribution and try to get all 4 corners evenly weighted.

My guess is he needs a lot more compression damping, given he has bypasses, it shouldnt be too hard to stiffen the high velocity compression up

^^^^^. Yes. (needs more weight in rear or will rotate around center of mass).

When they filmed the long jumps on the old Dukes of Hazard series back in the 80s, they had to put bags of concrete in trunk to keep level on longer "flights".

Here's the goal for your "sweet jumps":

in addition to the rear rebound adjustment try taking your foot off the throttle or push the clutch in, if a manual trans. The other way to compensate is to lower the rear of the truck a few inches.
