David, I just started checking your truck out when I saw our mutual tech amigo Jason (SpeedFreek) worked on your truck, too. Have you done any traction system changes over the stock rear locker? Did you install a front locker since yours is an '08 (pre A-TRAC) or is it one of the rare pre '09 A-TRAC Tacomas?
Thank you for sharing your upgrades!

Hey, you have my last initial too David K!

No traction system changes other than the OEM rear locker. I don't have A-TRAC.

After a few runs with Jason I started seriously considering a front locker, but have not done the research to see if I can install it with my 4.56 Nitro gears (would you happen to know if anything special is needed on the gear set? I remember they made a note of my rear locker when ordering the gears initially)

Nope, I admit when I am not an expert on something... and I am not versed on the truck's gear ratios, etc. Jason will know (and a bunch more here too, I suspect!)

The front locker (or A-TRAC) is really for the most serious of rock crawling/ steep, rocky grades, etc. The rear locker and low range 4WD are your biggest friends.

Here's my 2005 Tacoma with 4WD + rear locker (front dif. is open, no front traction control) climbing the Widowmaker grade near Mission Santa Maria, in Baja California:

    Who's that?

Tim was awesome during the whole process so far. Basically made sure I would be ready for install as soon as all the parts were ready.

They suck for hard impacts, the rebound is intense.
I found out after purchasing that Timbrens are really designed for hauling/towing and not really soaking up bumps off road.

Visited Tim this morning and snapped a couple photos of the progress... mostly just a bare front end, but it's coming along.

    Out with the old...

Keeping the All-Pro rack for now, but I have already started planning for rear LT. Once that gets done I will have a new removable rack for my roof tent since it can't be supported by fiberglass bedsides
