Trying to not make this a "Friday post". Long story short, I am lucky and was gifted an odyssey 24F battery. Going to switch it out with my 5yr old stock battery. Said battery was not used, uncertain of its storage area, but I was told it was in a conditioned area. Noticed the manufacturing date of 7/22. If it has been sitting for a little over a year, do I have anything to worry about? Do I need to get a trickle charger? Going to throw it in the truck this evening and see if it starts up. I am not putting any mods on the truck to keep the battery voltage up or anything, keeping it stock. Just curious if I would run into any problems. Any advise would be appreciated.

Before installing and wasting time, I would at least just test it, at a bare minimum with a multi meter, but places like AutoZone will do a proper test on it to see if it still has the spec'd cranking amps as well.

Absolutely - throw it on a charger. Even the brand new batt I got last season (Feb. '22, Deka series 7, 725CCA, $111 w/core credit), when I charged it overnite on a 6/12V switchable charger, the amp draw on the meter went down from a significant reading when 1st hooked up, to hardly anything by morning. That batt def needed a pick-me-up.

Well, I put it in... gotta part it out! It started as good as the factory battery the 1st try. Let it run for a few minutes and tried it again. The 2nd start up it started faster, let it run for about 30secs and shut it down. Seems like its ok. The hold down bracket seems a little big. I haven't put it on yet, cleaned some corrosion off and painted it, so its drying. I put the batteries side by side and the "width" seems smaller than the factory, that's why I'm thinking the hold down bracket might be to big for it. Might find something to stick between the battery & bracket for padding.

It is always a good idea to put a new battery on a slow charger overnight before first use if possible.

A Battery Tender type charger works fine for this.

There is a fair amount of tech packed into the battery tenders for a low cost, HF really isn't the best choice for this item in my opinion.

For a few dollars more a genuine NOCO Genius 1 or a Deltran Battery Tender is a better choice.
Both brands are tech leaders and well established with good reputations.
Either model is easily available at online, your local auto parts store or The Mart for around $30.

The NOCO unit has more functions, the Deltran is slightly easier to use, I have several of both and they have given good service.

Thats a near $400. battery. You need to charge it every 10 days to keep it good for the long run. if you don't keep it full from time to time, it will get weak, and fail early.
The 3rd gens have a crap charging algorithm that is controlled by the ECU. It's not nice on AGM type batteries.

Get a good AGM style charger. If you live in a cold area, its very important, not so much in warm/hot areas. I mounted a water proof noco in my car port for winter time.

OP you can also get a tune that changes that charging algorithm. A lot of guys have done it.

Sure did! I've wasted enough time looking at battery posts on here. Not going down that rabbit hole.

No tune, keeping it stock. Charge it every 10 days, that seems like a lot. Looking at the NoCo Genius 1 Rusty pointed out in a link.

You can get a tune that only changes the battery charge voltage and nothing else(stock fuel maps, shift logic, etc etc). So I guess it's not really a tune per sé... but the cost involved probably wouldn't be worth it, TBH.

I would suggest NOCO chargers as well... I have several. I used junk brands before on my RV batteries, and needed to replace them every 2 years. I bought a NOCO maintainer and started getting 5+ years out of my batteries. Well worth the investment.
