Ouch. That sucks. I’d be a little pissed if that happened to me.

    Isn’t building trucks fun.

You can run them independently, as well as in 2wd. I think you can also run in front wheel drive for front digs if so inclined, but i'm not 100% on that yet.

Well two options I guess. Lose the 800 bucks and get the correct seats or undergo a body shortening procedure. Might be able to find a cheap surgeon in Mexico.

Its close, I did a passenger drop vs a driver so I would have a low pinion front not a high pinion. We cut the floorboard out and its close. Doing an xrunner upper and lower oil pan really helps out alot.

What seats did you get? I'm sure you could sell them to someone local couldn't you?

Check out Midnight Metal works for the t-case. I know they don't do a 4 spd option, but they do sell doublers... I've never priced one out so it might be a complete waste of time, but it is another option!

I've never heard of anybody doing that on a toyota before actually. That's pretty cool!

They are Mastercraft 3G. Being in Canada, there's not many people into this kind of stuff, so it's a lot harder to sell things like that here.

I've looked at the midnight setup before but it's not really any cheaper than an atlas or blackbox unfortunately

You can do FWD only in low, but I have yet to utilize it for fear of instantly blowing a CV lol. Makes more sense with a solid axle. The vast variety of ranges is pretty damn awesome though, I have the 4.3:1 and 4.88s on 315s and there is always a good combo for the terrain. The planetary is great for anything that is not crawling, use it a lot for FS roads and semi slow terrain, I can get up to 30-35 without the motor screaming. Then the 4.3 for where I know I will be crawling for extended periods, and compound for technical obstacles. Some will say the compound is unnecessary with an auto, but I love it, so much control.

So you have the 4spd as well then, that's awesome. 4.3 is super deep with the 2.72 planetary as well. I agree that the auto doesn't necessarily need such low gearing, but it definitely can't hurt! And also with the LS, I'll have a lot more power, so it will help keep tires from slipping/spinning too easy.

I'm not too sure if your runner has the same first gear as the tacoma, but if it does, with the 4.3, you're final drive is like 200:1, must be amazing, and soooo slow haha! I was worried about 125:1 being possibly too much, but not anymore!

Alright, it's overwhelmingly settled. Eat the cost and get the atlas. done deal.

Definitely less cutting if you do a ford because the offset of motor and what not but thwy are high pinion. As of now we are bouncing between 21 and 22 inch frame height on 40s

I was kinda in the same boat as you, my stock case took a crap, so I just went full send lol.

I have the 4-speed A340 tranny, so 1st is 2.8 vs 3.5 in A750, so that makes a pretty big difference, 160:1 final which is actually higher than the A750 with the 3.8 in the Atlas (176:1).

Hurt my back and couldnt do much on the truck for a few weeks, but my friend who has built many cages was up here for a week and on his last day we decided to tackle the main hoops/a-pillars of the internal cage. Got them both done in around 5 hours or so. The rest should go together a lot easier. Had another friend come over to help as well. Super rad.

Just need to cut the holes in the back of the truck, and in the floor to get them in before I start tying them all together

Also got the new plasma table setup this week which I am extra stoked about! Gunna be a big shop upgrade I think.

Got both a-pillars in. Also cut the holes for the front engine tubes. Gunna do some sound deadening before adding the back and roof tubes.

Really want to do anti-intrusion bars in the windshield, but the cops around here can be pretty crazy, so I want to try and keep the truck as discreet as possible... As much as a linked long travel, ls swapped, wide body Tacoma could be anyway

Neat. I just got my internal cage from 4x but now i'm on the fence abut getting it put in because that means my entire interior needs to come out AGAIN. Might just wait until the truck is running and driving.

I don't think you have to pull the interior for the 4x innovations cage, it just kind of sits around the interior. I'm curious what the head room is like for that cage.
