Haven't had time to work on the truck for a while, but finished the steering cross member today for the tundra rack

Now just need to reinforce the rear front diff mount, and make new front mounts.

    Also, shop pups

Well the welding cart is done... Spent way too much time on that! Even custom 3d printed hose holders.

Finally making some progress this weekend. The motor has been torn down for a while, but I should get the top end fully reassembled this weekend with new springs, lifters, rods, cam, oil pump, etc. Plus a good cleaning of everything. Then I'll just have to cut a few more holes in my oil pan for clearance to the front diff, and then Tig that back together and the engine will be complete.

Im still trying to figure out the accessories though. Do any of you guys who know way more than me know what I would need to convert this to the corvette spacing to gain that 3/4" in the front? I plan to front mount my radiator so I'm hoping to make as much space as I can up there.

I also need to sort out what bracket I need for my Howe steering pump, and if I'll need a different pulley on it

Yeah, you can order all the corvette accessory brackets from ICT billet. They make it super simple

Decided I'm going to order new valve covers instead of reusing the old ones, so didn't get those on yet, but otherwise got decent progress on the motor.

    Installed new:
    Springs
    Rods
    Lifters/trays
    Cam
    Vvt delete
    Rear main + cover
    Barbell
    All gaskets

Just mock up installed the headers, intake and pan. Gets me fired up seeing it in the truck

Fully considering cutting the mounts out and all of the ifs stuff and solid axle swapping it now... But the other option is building my own j arm setup with dana44 snouts and manual hubs.

Really want 17-18" of travel strong enough for 40s and 500hp without doing TTB, without being crazy wide so I can wheel through the tight tree trails here. Need to decide soon though

You can really tuck it in when you move the cab back 2.5" and cut out the oil pan around the front diff!

Got some work done on the 88 runner today, got the dual cases installed. Just need to get the SAS and 63 swap done, and get the ARB compressor installed for the lockers on that and it's ready to wheel.

    20230904_185406.jpg

Modified the shifters a bit so I didnt have to move the switches for the rear window.

Mostly working on the runner lately so I can actually go wheeling while I build the taco.

Prepping the front axle for the SAS. Did the "fifth stud mod" after work today along with new arp studs, and got a switch panel installed ready for the compressor and lockers.

Gunna knock out the rest of the axle build tomorrow evening, axle truss, diff armour, knuckle ball gussets. Then I can put the diff in, chromoly axles, rebuild the hubs and figure out the Tacoma brake mod. Then the front axle is 100% ready to bolt in. Will be doing the SAS and 63 swap next week!

Also picked up some lightly used 37s for it.

The thing should crawl pretty good!

    :luvya:

Getting tired of riding shotgun in other people's trucks.

Once this is done it will be back to regularly scheduled programming.

The tacos axle is on its way from JD, atlas 4 has been ordered, transmission is being built, high output alternator and goat built bracket ordered to mount the TC pump. Water pump and idlers coming as well, then the engine will be fully done with all accessories.

I should have the runner done by the time the axle shows up, then I can start building the links and laying out the 4link. Then I can finish the cage and start on the back half.

Could give the cab a fresh coat of spray paint! But I doubt it will stay shiny underneath for long haha
