Got my 2009 TRD OFFROAD a couple months back.
I have searched and read about a thousand different threads on issues I am having. I really want to LOVE this truck, but the ride so far has me worried.

60k miles Stock everything. Except a K&N air filter and step bars.

-At stop and go sometimes I hear a thud (axel warp?) some say is normal? Doesnt sound normal?
-Between 50-70 I have terrible vibration at wheel.
-seems like the bed of the truck moves around a lot?

Where do I start to mend these issues? I Really dont want to spend a ton on possible fixes on a new (to me) truck.

#1) remove that POS K&N "filter" and put in a OE type paper filter. K&N sucks.

#2) inspect and grease your drive line.

#3) tighten down your body and bed bolts.

    #4) Inspect your suspension

The vibration could be coming from a bad or unbalanced tire(s).

Please elaborate on this comment. I don't know what a roadforce balancer is or why the make of a vehicle matters in balancing mounted tires.

Speed sensitive vibes, especially on a stock truck, are more than likely unbalanced wheels/tires or alignment. Check your alignment and tires for uneven wear along with getting the tires balanced or even replaced if worn.

I had a bad vibe in 50-70 range. Then I found TW! I got new tires, balanced correctly, problem solved!
    TW solves all my problems:rolleyes:

Op, on the tacoma the fuel will slosh around in the tank. Sudden start and stops can often be accompanied by a thud felt in the seat of your pants. The tank is directly under the driver seat.
The vibration your feeling in the steering at highway speeds is probably a tire that's out of balance.
As far as the bed goes... that sounds normal to me. These beds flex side to side when going over bumps and such. It's perfectly normal and just something to get used to.

If the guy running the balancer knows what they are doing any good balancer will work fine.

The thud your probably hearing is probably the same as my first gen. I was told it is normal by a mechanic, others say it's not. Research axle wrap and it will happen to any vehicle with spring over axle leafs. The problem is toyota puts weak leafs in the back, and they move when you stop and go. Someone said to tighten the u bolts on the truck, but I'm just going to get new leaf packs soon anyway, so I'm not worried

I have a thud after I first start moving, maybe five feet after a start. Happens about half the time.

Ok I went out and checked. The fuel tank is slightly behind the driver seat and continues back to near the rear axle. So mostly under the back seat of my truck. Still I feel the gas surge against the front and back of the tank in my trucks. It's not axle wrap.

All these thuds are almost certainly axle wrap. Very common on tacomas. My first gen does it. Sometimes when I come to a stop, sometimes as soon as I let off the brakes to go

Somebody said you can tighten the ubolts on a second gen. It could be time for springs, I know mine are way worn

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.

I havent seen any real improvements with the K&N, so I may remove on the next change.

I will get under there tonight and tighten down everything I can. Any specific points I should look at? I have not done any wrenching on it yet. Any special tools needed for the bed/body bolts?

Once done there, I will take to get tires balanced and aligned. Dont wanna go to the stealership, but I will to make sure they have the proper equipment.
