    Hi Guys,
I have a 2016 4x4 OR DCLB. I bought it about 2 years ago and I've been doing light offroading.
I plan on keeping my truck stock until 2 of the below 3 criteria are met:
    1. my truck is paid off
    2. my offroading skills surpass those that the truck is capable of
    3. factory parts start to fail
There is one things that I've been trying to research, but haven't found much information on. Assuming I do a 3 inch lift, 33s, some steel armor, and maybe a rack, would a supercharger likely make up for the additional weight I'm adding, or would re-gearing also be advised?
    Thanks,

Why would you need a SC for off roading? People add those to help lap times not rock crawl. Unless I'm missing something.

Supercharger is good for low end torque unlike turbo charging.

OP you better delete your account otherwise criteria 4 and 5 are going to show up on your list.

    4. Couldn't overcome TW temptations

    5. See condition 4.

Re-gearing will be a much better option.

Supercharges require maintenance, they put more strain on the engine components, it will cost 3-4x as much as a regear, will likely require screwing with the truck's electronics/software, will hurt your fuel economy, and will generally be 10x the pain in the ass that a re-gear will be. Granted, a S/C will actually add torque (and hp) whereas a re-gear will simply make existing torque more accessible, but at the end of the day, having the current torque accessible will be just fine.

    No it will not.

Plus I’m not sure what your goal would be by that. Are you trying to counter act the poor gas mileage or trying to get back power lost from the additional weight?

A supercharger is a really expensive solution to any problem.

And the lift and armor really wouldn’t hurt you that bad in terms of power for off roading. The large tires would be the biggest difference maker. I am not sure what sizes warrant gear changing in a Taco.

Thanks guys, I guess my post wasn't specific enough. I'm still fairly new to this.
My truck is a daily driver. While I love having fun in it, I do have to drive it to work every day. While the lift, 33s, and armor will increase offroad capabilities, they will also decrease on-road performance. Specifically, my ability to accelerate after encountering the 18,000,000,000 red lights between my home an office. Do other 3rd gen owners typically overcome this with re-gearing, SC, turbo, live with it, etc?

You will never surpass the trucks ability unless you actually build the truck and go offloading. The reason most ppl add stuff is the suplument their ability while gettimg better, and to protect their truck while getting better.

Tires, suspension, and some armor helps 10x while not overly moding the truck.

Magnusson makes bolt on applications for all previous taco engines and these new ones will be easier to tune since their computers are more programmable than in the past. A properly tuned supercharger will not decrease the life of an engine an appreciable amount.

Anyway as previously mentioned if there's no sc for the 3.5 then no beans anyway. Wanted to dispel a negative attitude towards a sc though.

you can't deny though that blower kits can cause heat issues.

All FI applications can cause heat issues. Proper cooling solves this.

it helps but it doesn't solve the issue all together.
are people really using meth off-road?

You don't need a supercharger to add armor and 33's

You can't get better if you don't go out and keep trying. Sliders, will help protect and some people have even stated that it's helped them in the parking lots with door dings.

Has anybody done the 4.88 on stock and kept it as such?
