Getting a parabolic vibration in 2wd and 4wd exactly at 40mph while cruising. RPMs are around 1200-1500. It is faint and I am just wondering if it is the gear that is being used at that speed this naturally occurs??? Not a huge concern, just curious if there could be other thoughts since I seem to have covered all the bases.

I have the ECGS bushing, New front brakes and rotors, New tires (265/70/17), 3 degree shims with a 6-leaf dakar pack....Have no idea what could cause it at a very specific speed.

When did the vibration start, before or after the mods?

it has been there ever since i can remember. Ive had suspension on the truck since 2017. It is weird it literally goes away at 38 and 42mph, only there in between...wondering if it just happens to be one of those fine spots moving parts make a vibe...like the tire tread, but it is parabolic i nature and I ONLY feel it on the top of the steering wheel

Weird is right, but I only feel it in the top of the steering wheel and its harmonic (not the steering wheel moving). If you feel it in your butt it could be tires aren't perfectly balanced, or your rear drums may have a slight warp

Haven't exactly noticed it in the steering wheel but i'll pay attention today when i drive home. I have 5,200 miles on it now and the vibration has been there since i picked it up brand new. Kind of just become accustomed to it. Tires have been rotated/balanced now twice with the scheduled service. I am due now for the 15,000 mile service, i'll mention it when i bring it in about the vibe and ask them to check the rotors. I also now have a weeping rear diff too, about 50% of the front of the diff is stained with oil on both sides i'm going to ask them to address that as well.

My driver's seat also pops/clunks too when turning. I feel it either in the very back of the cushion or in the very bottom of the seatback. turn left, hear/feel a pop. No noise or feeling if i make more lefts. Make a right, hear and feel a pop. make more rights no noise until i make another left haha

Possible. IDK about OP but I don't hear anything, only feel it when it happens.

I ask because I have a rhythmic vibration that I can feel in the steering wheel between about 20MPH and 60MPH, most noticeable between 40 and 50MPH. It almost feels like I'm driving across very light rumble strips - 3 seconds of high-frequency vibration, 2 seconds of nothing, then 3 seconds of vibration, over and over again. The duration of the vibration and the gap between vibrations does not change significantly with vehicle speed. This is during normal road driving in 2WD. As soon I engage 4HI it goes away completely, which is exactly the behavior described in the TSB I posted. Took it to the dealer, who "didn't hear a noise", but felt the vibration. They then actually removed my wheels and tires, replaced them with stock wheels and tires, and drove the truck again. Said they didn't notice the vibration in stock configuration therefore it was my wheels and tires. When asked if they had engaged 4HI before the swap to reproduce my experience, I got no answer. I'm sure this is the needle bearing in the front diff, but they refuse to do anything. I'm calling Toyota Regional in Denver today to see what they can do for me, then it's on to Corporate if I get no satisfaction.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come in and hijack your thread, but I thought this info just might be relevant to your issue.

happens in 4wd...very faint, doesn't feel like a grinding. I have the ECGS bushing that replaced the driver CV needle bearing

Yea checked it on the way home. I never felt it before because of my grip on the wheel. I CAN feel a vibe in the wheel that coincides perfectly with the shake in my butt, but only if I hold the wheel with my fingertips. The vibration does not go away when I put it in 4WD, it's still there.

Is it different in the very top of the wheel with two hands on top vs on the sides of the wheel?

Same problem on my new 19. Mine is at 20-28 mph and it drives me nuts. Having a Toyota regional technician to come out and try to solve mine. It’s so aggravating, especially for me who drives 65 percent of the time in the city and is in that 20-28 mph range a lot!

Could it be the tires out of balance?

I noticed a recent vibration as soon as I put on my winters. It goes away with my duratrac.

Could even just be a weight came off. Wouldn't be the first time it happened.

See if you can have them rebalanced.

Even with wear a tire can become out of balance.

Yes absolutely. The top of the wheel vibrates more prominently than the sides. Idk why that would happen but it is what it is.
