I'll be honest I haven't had a need (yet) to do this on my truck, but I believe you just pull the fuel pump relay and then run the truck as it starves for gas/dies. I'm sure someone here who's done this before will chime in shortly to confirm or correct.

It's actually the C OPN relay on Toyota but yes pull that, run it till it stalls, and crank it a couple secs to dump most of the fuel pressure. There will still be a bit of pressure in the line so wear some safety glases and/or wrap a rag around the connection when you pull it apart to minimize spray and spillage.

I don’t see an issue doing this. Probably not really necessary but being in a factory service manual, they feel the need to make it idiot proof. Like if you happen to be lighting a cigarette at the same time you disconnect a pressurized fuel line, they don’t want the half second fuel spray to light on fire.

Looks like you don’t have to have the intelligent tester, just the hose, tee, hose clamps, and pressure gauge. I’d suggest a 100 psi gauge, testing pressure will be close to half, if you can find a liquid filled gauge that would be good.

Puzzling why they would call 9-14 standard voltage. Again to idiot proof it, if it’s 9, it might start, if it starts you can test it.
