If they plan to just use zip ties I will not accept it. It didn’t look like that when I brought it in. There is one clip that a bracket that bolts to the firewall that the harness clips too. The other spots on on the actual engine. The service manager said they went from the front and removed front diff. He said they didn’t actually remove the engine. But believe me I will be looking it over with a fine tooth comb after all this BS.

I'd want to trade it in for a new one with a deal in my favor for the trade.

I’d get rid of it. Call Toyota corporate.

12 days since this post. Is the harness all tidied up and the truck delivered to you?

Folks around here like to hear the end of the story! :D

Way back in the 1960s my Dad had a customer that we called "The Crazy Russian." He was an all around mechanic, but specialized in transmission work. Before he'd buy a used transmission from my Dad, he'd pull the transmission dip stick, sniff and then taste the fluid.

That's why we called him The Crazy Russian.

It used to be pretty common in the ''old days'' to pull the transmission dipstick [remember those, they were really useful] and smell the fluid. Abused or old, it was dark and smelled burned from the plate material in it. I suppose you would also be able to taste it but the question is, WHY? If it's dark and stinks, it's likely been overheated and mistreated and neglected.

At the risk of starting a meme, I'll state that I sniffed many dipsticks back then. I was never tempted to taste the fluid. If it smelled like crap, we dumped onto the scrap pile and went on to the next one.

Dang thanks for keeping me in check! I thought I posted the outcome. They fixed the harness back to the way it was stock, detailed my truck and drive the hour and 20 minutes to deliver it to me. Treated very well. They would not “give” me an extended warranty, but I’ll be getting a very good discount on one when I decide to get it. Right now the truck is leased. I’m sure I’ll buy it, but waiting to make sure before I buy an extended warranty.
