You also can't get a new Tacoma without ordering from a dealer and waiting for months on end...

OK 3rd and for me most likely the final test. 403 tire adjusted miles with 18.65 gallon. used =21.608 mpg.
    Dash calculator spot on "again".
Please see the 2 quotes above for the details of the test. Basically 50/50 hwy/city operating time over 3 weeks. Same gas station 3 click method both times.

I get 19-21 on average per tank on 70% highway. SR5 long bed (proper bed) 2wd with 265-75-16. I’m ok with that. Not great not terrible.

I have a '21 TRD OR 4X4, crew cab long bed, all stock and typically get 16-17mpg around town, but when I go to the outer banks of NC, I'll typically stay over 20+mpg, usually getting close to 23mpg, especially when I head home. It's all flat there, and I typically do no more than 5mph over the posted speed limit. As I get onto the interstates the mpg will drop to 21mpg due to what I'll say is higher speeds and hills and maybe heavier foot on the accelerator). This is is obviously from the last fillup which included a few miles on sand with aired down tires then about 50 more miles up the flat islands.

How come I see some fill up with 18 gallons? It always tops off at 16 for me. I even drove it on fumes (I think) to see if I would get 18 gallons on a fill up

Holds 21.1. So 18 gal's is very doable.

I never let the fuel get that low. Usually i fill up with 16 gal. and change. Letting it go to 18 + imo, is putting your fuel pump at risk. Those pumps last the longest when the coolest, and they need plenty of gas to keep them that way.

I always fill up around 80 miles left. My mpg is pretty consistent before 33's I was at 22-23 but now I'm at 20-21.

    Oh look, another mod....
Step 1) Get your foot off the god damn accelerator. This isn't a race car, it's a truck. It's actually a brick being pushed through the air.
Step 2) Keep the MPH's around 65-70, MAX.

Also, the bigger (or heavier) your tires, the more MPG's you lose.

Perhaps I need to see how you guys are driving out of the hole from a stop. Because Im not going wide open throttle to speed limit or anything close to that. In fact, I become an old lady driver when I get into my tacoma. I just drive nice and normal. Its a truck. I have a BMW M3 for my speed desires. Now I cant do 65-70 MAX here in SoCal on the highways. I would be run off the road. Highways here are 80MPH GO GO GO mode. No one does 65-70. Unless in traffic.

I just find it odd that both my 500hp TTV6 M3 and my supercharged V8 Rover both get way better MPG on the highway. The M3 gets 24 and the Rover gets 21. Brick sized or not, I somewhat expected my tacoma to achieve 18-19. Im half tempted to remove the tune (tune for shifting purposes only) to see if I get any better.

I wish I wouldn't have gotten the MT because of that and the excessive rpm in first gear when pulling out in fast traffic. Although, I recently had a 60 mile drive at speeds between 50-60mph with few stops and flat elevation, all stock, and I got 27mpg on the trip OD. Otherwise 17 average.

Same for me. I've read here again and again to keep shifts under 2k rpm. I'll do that when I can and it improves mpg satisfactory, but that will never be on my daily commute.

Under 2k? Sheesh, that's not much rpm at all. After having many JDM cars of the 90's. I expected this thing to do better than 16mpg. When I was a kid, my old acura integra GSR saw 6K to 8K all day to get that VTEC to kick in! lol. And I still got 24MPG!

Right? I split driving with my WRX, with average shifts near ~4k and ~80mph highway to get 25-28mpg. If I redline at every light and drive 110 on the highway, I still get at least 18mpg.

I know, we're talking a block traveling down the road vs a wedge, but it still affects me psychologically.
