Im to 22 right now with with my 2022 v6 OR. Dont use cruise control though my engine stays at around 1500rpms when km highway maybe just control the speed yourself and the mpgs will be better?

Agree with speed control, but 1500rpm is like 52mph for me.

I-40 and I-85 aren't exactly hilly terrain and once you get east of Durham, it's pretty flat for the most part. I used to live in Cary. Try a drive up I-26 between Columbia and Greenville/Spartanburg then let's talk about mpg.

I think your a little low for speed at 1500 rpm. I get at least 55 mph at those rpm.

I'm getting 20~ish MPG only in Summer time with a very light foot on the gas pedal.
In winter, this V6 is 15 to 16 MPG, it hates the cold and winter gas here has a different mix.

Who's getting over 20 MPG on the highway? This thing even smells a 1 degree grade in the road at highway speeds and it drops the anchor. Or do you just let that "hill" slow you down by 10-15 mph before you hit the top?

Just got home from a long trip. The truck got close to 25mpg on a couple of tanks. Used cruise control most of the way, traveling from Arizona to northern Colorado and back on the interstates. Traveled at 65mph most of the way. Overall average was about 23 mpg (haven't calculated that yet).

Not sure how you can average 22 mpg on 32" tires. I have 265/70-17 and drive around the piedmont triad area of NC on a daily basis, most often on the highway/interstate. Best case, I average around 17.5-18.5 mpg. I've done the calculations manually a number of time and have found that the trucks onboard computer that shows avg mpg to be fairly accurate - within a few tenths.

    What make/Type are the 265/70/17's ?
The load rating makes a big difference in weight on these tires.
E vs C rated all different weight by make/type of tire as well.

I tested the onboard tank MPG measurement myself (thinking it was lying to me big time) and it was SPOT on. I was shocked how accurate it was.

My driving as well was all in the NC Piedmont. To average 21-22 mpg. takes a keen eye up the road and calibrated right foot.

The dash gauge is very accurate as long as your doing a long continuous trip...no short 5-10 mile runs.

I average 20-21 on the highway going (70-75mph) with my 285 KO2's Load E , only about 1 hill that I really have to step on the pedal. When I had my 265 KO2's I was doing 22-23mpg

I have several 80%+ highway tanks around the 30 MPG mark. Typical highway speeds for me are 60-65 with some 55 and 70 here and there. I'm not sure if that's because of the hills or in spite of them.

I regularly travel 93 here in NH at 75-80 MPH on 50 mile runs and pretty consistently see 21-22.5 MPG. My truck is mechanically all stock with stock size BFG trail terrains. That same trip in my old 5th gen 4Runner on 285/70/17's lifted 3" with a winch on the front. 16MPG at best. Absolutely not lifting this one.

stock '22 sport ac 4x4 6MT with about 4200 miles so far and i average 22-23 consistently. most of my driving is two lane roads where speeds are 45-65 mph and the elevation 2000-4500 feet.

i have an ARE CX canopy on order and I am a bit nervous about the effect it may have on fuel mileage, if any. fingers crossed it has no effect or maybe a slight increase.

On my 2.7, I just dumped 10 gallons of stale, stabilized genny gas in the tank, along with 2x gallons of fresh 89 (needed chainsaw fuel).
Got 20mpg driving from the desert up onto the Sierra plateau, 8,500 ft.
Got 31+mpg driving exact same route home, with a load of firewood.
The lesson I drew from this, is, my Tacoma runs better on stale fuel?!
