I just bought a 2001 toyota tacoma trd and i clicked the 4x4 button on the transfer case shifter and then clicked it in again to turn it off and now the truck doesn’t go into drive like the brake is on or something i probably sound pretty stupid but i didn’t want to mess with anything else any advice for my problem?

Does it shift into drive and not move forward, or will it not shift into drive at all?
Something similar occurred in my 2nd gen; it fixed itself when I shifted in reverse, then drive. Hope it works for you.

Is the 4WD shifter in L4 or H?

All kinds 3 inch body lift/2 1/2 suspension lift. 31/11 1/2/15 tires All work done by myself for years. The only work performed by mechanic was fuel pumps. I also have a 90 Mustang 350 hp and I can never understand how come my Tacoma gets more respect Just got a 99 Jeep TJ that I rebuilt, and painted in the garage
Stop playing with it. Your gonna break it.

This happened to me when i first was learning about 4wd. So basically you are either putting it the 4wd in neutral and then doing a shift to drive? if so put the 4wd shift to H and make sure 4wd button is off(4wd light will turn off). Then you should be back to normal.
