Screenshot_20230927-153049-589.png I have some rain guards/ visors over my windows which I stuck on something like January/February this year. Within the past month I realized the back ends of them, on my back doors only, started to come loose and were flapping in the wind a bit while driving.

I removed them today to fix them, but after looking at the state of the double sided tape on them I feel like they were barely adhered at all, having only a thin line of clean tape which I peeled off, and over 3/4 of the remaining tape was just catching debris. I attached a picture of what that looks like. I think part of the problem is the curvature at the top of the cab, which these rain visors don't account for, they're just flat.

While I now know that there are better quality rain visors out there which apply much better, these were a gift from someone I'm close to and I don't want to replace them and buy new ones to remedy the problem if I can just get these to work better. If anyone has any suggestions or also dealt with this problem I'd love to know how you went about applying yours! Thanks IMG_20230927_152635752.jpg

I had some on my first Tacoma that came lose. I ended up removing them and re-applied new 3M double sided tape.

Agree with "Boerseum". Buy some quality double sided tape and reapply.

Take them off, clean them, clean them again, clean your truck, clean it again, make sure there’s no wax or ceramic coat on anything, use some 3M adhesive 2 sided tape and hope for the best. I had some port add on on my 2001 4runner that I had to re-glue every 6 to 8 months, eventually I lost two of them on the highway and just gave up.

Thanks, this is the direction I was headed. I had a small bit of 3M tape, removed them, cleaned, and started to reapply and was short on enough tape. So I stopped and decided to reevaluate the situation until I could pick up more, especially after I saw the poor adhesion from the last tape. The original tape on it was from the manufacturer, though it's similar, I'm hoping the 3M will stick better.

I used 3M double sided tape to stick a trunk lip spoiler/gurney flap on my old Subaru WRX, and that undoubtedly saw more external forces from driving than these visors would. 3M tape on clean surface, with maybe some adhesion promoter, and you should be just fine.

Don't worry I'm anal about the cleaning part! I already did some thorough prep before I realized I didn't have enough tape to reapply them. And I will be cleaning it again once I have enough tape.

I'm really hoping mine won't continue to be a problem long term :( I had a Nissan frontier for around 8 years, and the ones I had for it stayed the entire 8 years and are still attached to this day. Never had a problem with those so I wasn't expecting these to give any issues. I suppose eventually I will buy the in channel ones if these just won't stay.

Wow! Good to know. That seems to be the primary solution, so I guess I'll just have to have faith in 3M.

Yea at the time I didn't realize that there were in channel ones. I've been told they're more expensive than these (I haven't bothered checking myself) but anyway I would like to have the fancier kind, but these were a gift and I would feel awful getting rid of these! So I'll hold out for if/when I can't make these work, or they wear out and then shoot for the in channel kind.

First suggestion I've seen for brands other than 3M. Do you think this kind is superior/ more durable?

Don't skimp on the tape. 3M moulding tape is the way to go. Probably less than $10 on Amazon.

I use gorilla products all the time great products stick really well . Currently using gorilla Velcro tape for my softopper on the bed I have taken off the softopper multiple times not once did the tape ever budge and it’s been in extreme whether conditions hot and cold . Have had the tape on for 3 years now lol.

I put a bead of black silicone on one of mine that got pulled off by accident about two years ago- it has held solid ever since. Use blue tape to help support it and keep the window up for a couple days while the silicone cures.
