This is according to my dash computer in my 2017 DCSB Sport MT. However, when new and bone stock, I could get up to low 24's mpg on summer gas consistently with my tri-fold tonno-pro cover.

Now, I have 265/70-r17's KO-Bros, no chin strap, no Tonno and I am getting low 21's to high 20's consistently this summer. I don't drive like a complete ass, but I am heavy footed. I do only have 1 stop light on my 17mi (one=way) commuter on NH state roads.

I did the Shift Sense Pro on my 18 OR and it was about an 80% improvement over stock...

Slowish, and it struggled a fair bit up steep inclines. It wasn’t a dog or anything, but the Tacoma is definitely faster. Granted my F150 was as a 13’ and they’ve made significant changes to they Coyote since then, so I can’t comment on the new one.

Not sure how everyone else felt about the TSB or whatever the fuck its called "transmission fix" that they do at the dealer. I had it done to mine, transmission still blows. Lot of people here are calling out OP for using the word "underpowered" to describe the shitty transmission. "hurr durr it's a mid-size truck go buy an M3 if you want fast" I know it's underpowered, so does he, I'm fine with that - the issue is the shitty transmission, and nothing short of an $800 aftermarket flash is going to fix it it seems like.

Speaking of which, anyone in this thread done the OV tune? I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on that.

I had an 06 Silverado extra cab 2wd, with a 285 hp with a 5.3 and never wanted for power. It is amazing to me that this truck is 10 less horsepower and I am constantly wanting for power. I don't know which one is heavier and how they are geared but I am disappointed with the drivetrain. Maybe down the road I will get a turbo or supercharger. As someone mentioned I stay in S3 or S4 in day to day street driving.

My local dealer in the auto mall backs up to the freeway. It is automatic to get on the freeway and step on it.

    Stock and staying that way
I am completely satisfied with my 2017 Limited. It isn't a torquey V8, but I knew that when I bought it.

Aldo is a fucking Jeep nerd. Let him do his thing, he doesn’t matter.

Jeep nerds play acoustic guitar at the vanilla ice cream stand after the “Jeep” trails. Who wants good clean fun?!?!

If the Tacoma does, or doesn't, have enough power is subjective.
The real question is: if it doesn't have enough power, why buy it?
