I’d email customer service and tell them you don’t have a local rep (last time I used them they basically had a check box for that) and see what they say.
I’ve always been taken care of that route with warranty stuff but for an old tool they might refer you to a local vendor.

Worst case maybe one of our regulars that has a good SO rep can try and warranty it for you and y’all can just mail back and forth. Kind of a hassle but have seen it done successfully when nothing else is an option.

I understand different manufacturers call them different things but has anyone shopped for off corner sockets? The kind that puts the pressure mid nut all around.

If so, what’d you find? Selection, price...

Snap-on Flank drive, the selection is almost endless but the price will kill you.

So is just about every power tool of the popular brands. Most are all made in the same factory, just branded differently.

It's way more common then you think. I believe theres only like 2 or 3 company's that produce automotive oils and and there just packaged in different containers but come from the same plant with maybe a few trade secret additives added when packaging.

Yep. Unfortunately, as I have just been reading, you are both correct. It's very disappointing.

I'm sure you've heard about the HF Daytona jack and the Snap On jack? Made at the same chinese factory, the only difference is Snap-On assembles the parts from the factory in the U.S., so they can put in the assembled in the USA! on the box and charge 4x more.

"Both Harbor Freight and Daytona get their jacks from the same factory, the only difference is how they’re advertised and the country where they’re assembled. Other than that, the Harbor Freight FJ3000 and Snap-On FJ 300 are essentially the same jack but having enough differences to be sold at the same time."

So I am returning my HF Jstands today, and was going to order a set of Torin stands. I just wanted to double check to see if they were made in USA and the link to their web site is dead. I also cannot find any articles that state where they are made. I have also checked the web sites I provided above, and cannot find them listed.
If I have missed something on these stands, pls point me in the right direction.

I went with a couple of sets of Wright Tool, Wright-Drive sockets. 20% off code from Zoro, brought the combined price to $165 or so. Free shipping, made in the US.

I believe Wright tools are a sister company of Snap on. Nice buy.

    Thanks

It’s confusing as to who owns what company. I think there are two Wright Tool Companies.

One is a subsidiary of Federal Resources.
The other, I think is independently owned since 1927. It’s this one I got my sockets from via Zoro.

I didn’t see Snap-On mentioned in any of the research I did before the purchase.

If you get a chance, check out GearWrench. Not sure if they're mentioned in this thread but they're by far my favorite for hand tools. I have their sockets, ratchets, wrenches, and screw drivers. Their warranty is great.
