I had been following threads on this site for a long time; but, for today, since I was probably mixing my various memberships pertaining to everything Toyota, I signed up again; if I can find out that I actually have an account on another name, I will probably just connect these accounts, or merge, whatever is safe and best, to prevent confusion.

Anyway, I have a 2007 Toyota Tacoma 4 Door SR5 PreRunner 4.0L Long Bed, Dark Blue. Was the second owner, the first one being a she, just used this baby for work then home, until she decided she wanted a Sequoia so she had to get rid of this to make it happen. Through the help of a common agent who became a close friend, the transfer was smooth. And it only had less than 6000 miles on it, making me feel like I was actually the first owner due to low mileage on purchase.

For the most part, it had been a roller coaster ride between me and this truck. This baby had brought me, my family and my mom, to Vancouver, BC. Been also to Oregon, Washington, Az, Nevada and TX riding on this dude. City drive, it is a monster. Regardless of its length and size, if I thought that I could pass this safely on a tight spot, it would happen. With its speed and maneuverability, it would glide in highways and race with the so called fast cars. If you see me driving and you thought you could outspeed me, think twice. Even if your toy costs 100K but if you taunt me on the highway, I will not hesitate to give you a hell of a race that you want, regardless as to whether your toy was new and old. You are on! Had so many memorable trips with it. It is reliable, so to speak.

Now that it is almost 170000 and had been showing signs of a major repair, I want to keep it for practical reasons. Also, maybe some people may know the solution to my ongoing issues. Definitely this pandemic had a an effect on the vehicle as the stay at home orders prevented road trips. So did the maintenance part. Hope I find the answer to my long standing issues with my vehicle.

Thanks for the welcome. I don't race; if you are driving on the highway observing speed limits then someone cuts you in front and stays there, how would feel especially if that driver didn't even signal that he was changing lanes? I observe road courtesy. And I have driven long enough coast to coast to know how to drive safely without hurting anyone.

Banned for a duplicate account? Excuse me. Both accounts are legit and verified. I know the basic rules of behaving in a forum. I know every forum is different, but even Outlook allows you now to merge other accounts so you can view all your emails one time. I opened this account because I need information as to how to fix my issues with my truck which is a 2nd Generation Tacoma. I did not come here just to be banned for having a duplicate account or to scam anyone. That's not a nice way to welcome an experienced Tacoma driver whose only purpose is to find answers to his truck issues. I will leave that issue to the moderator to help me just use one account. For now, my priority is to find solutions to my lingering flashing check engine light which again resurfaced after more than one year being unheard of.

Perhaps it broke while “out speeding” one of those $100k toys that must not have known you were flexing. Other than that a flashing CEL equates to get off the road safely and shut down. An intermediate CEL could be as simple as a bad gas cap seal. First place I would start is using a scan tool to read what code or codes it is throwing.

As a note, if you would like a warm welcome do not start with exploits that your vehicle is not capable of performing. Is your vehicle capable of sharing the road running at highway speeds with most anything? Sure. Can it outperform a Corrolla on the highway? No!

I started a new thread under 2nd Gen Tacomas. The details of the issue are, what I did, what I was missing. And this CEL blinking was not present when the so called racing happened as I never provoked a drag race. Otherwise, I would have stopped and turned it off. I always keep an OBD scanner with me. No codes. just blinking CEL. Lastly, this truck can outperform the Corolla in the highway(freeway is what I mean, 15 freeway Interstate en route to Vegas?). My answer to that is yes it did. When the truck was at its peak.

Sounds like a very magical machine you have. Best of luck identifying your issues.
