Not sure if Genuine Toyota part

I bought a Toyota Genuine air filter for my 99 3.4L off of Amazon and it arrived today. It came in a box that certainly appears to be legit... it looks like all the pictures you see online. The actual air filter certainly looks like what is in my truck now (not sure if that's genuine...truck is new to me a couple of weeks ago), but there aren't any markings on the filter itself that denote a brand. The only marking on it is "ETFr", which is a stamp of some kind on part of the plastic.

Those who have bought Toyota Genuine air filters... do I have a genuine part? Or have I purchased a genuine box with an aftermarket filter? Does Toyota mark their filters?

That's true except I paid more for a Genuine part. If I wanted a generic filter I could've paid half. If it's a generic filter I'll be returning it.

 

This is why I never order anything "genuine" off of Amazon. Amazon does not go through nearly enough effort to ensure that their vendors are legitimate. I even have to use the FakeSpot app just to make sure the Amazon reviews themselves are legit. Most of the time they aren't, especially when there are thousands of so called 'reviews'. You just never know what you're going to get on there these days.

 

go to a dealer and buy a filter in the future and there are no questions. A good alternative is here, pricing is good for oem

I bought an oem af last week from the dealer. No Toyota markings, looked generic af.

I usually buy OEM from the dealer for critical parts, including brakes.
High quality isn't always guaranteed, however.

When I did the Tundra brake swap recently, I purchased brand new rotors,
and one of them, out-of-the-box, was badly warped. I was shocked.
They exchanged it, of course, so I was happy about that.

 

ask for a return and specify its not exactly as described.

 

That's true. Online dealers like Toyota of Dallas or Camelback would be fine. But I don't trust Amazon.
