Not sure if getting the sport instead of the off-road was a bad idea. Opinions

The last 10 years I have had one vehicle with 4x4 and neither are my main drivers. The first 35 years I drove two wheel drive vehicles and got by without 4x4 in snow country. If you got it occasionally you might need it in snow. For those occasions I mostly stayed home. Still do even with 4x4 if I have a choice. I can't see any options the OR has that my TRD Sport lacks for snow conditions. Tires are the main concern once winter sets in.

    Take Care

That may be true, but I had three 2 wheel drive trucks and after getting my first 4x4 I swear I will never buy another two wheel drive truck again

Who needs 4 wheel drive? Just some tires with a little more bite in the ass end is all you need for most snow. :D

Snow isn't usually a problem. Ice is a different ball game. But I'll never forget driving a Subaru Outback in the snow around Keystone and Breckenridge, CO. That was a lot of fun that week, until we started heading back down I-70 into Denver (as it avalanches behind us). I'm probably going 4x4 on my next truck just for pulling a future boat outta slick boat ramps.

The op made 2 posts and not heard of again ? , He buys the truck then asks for advice. Doesn't sound too smart to me

I got the TRD off road 6mt, because I'm leasing and it had 75% residual, which is out of this world. But I was considering the sport since I'm just going to get shocks, tires, wheels someday anyhow. I dont have crawl control cause its a manual, and I wouldnt ever use it anyways.

Thoughts on if it was a bad idea? My truck now is a 4x2.

That is the last sentence of his post it sounds like he has a 2WD to me

My old Chevy LUV was mostly used for cutting firewood. Only needed the 4X4 a few times, mostly needed the low range to crawl out of someplace with a full load of wood. I had a flat bed built and added a helper leaf spring and coil over rear shocks.

I hunt and fish and go into the mountains often during rain and snow. There are many times where I've used 4x4 and gone places a 4x2 wouldn't dare (unless I was there to tow them out)

Probably got his concern/question answered pretty quick. What seems to happen here is someone will answer an OP's question pretty quick, but then everyone else seems to think they have to add their two cents to the thread even though it's been addressed. OP is probably smart enough to not waste all of his time here.

Awww, did he hurt your feelings by not following up and leaving you hanging? Are you going to be able to sleep tonight? Want your mommy to bring you a night light and a warm glass of milk?
