Very common on the 2.7. I ended up welding mine

 

I don't think this would prevent the engine from starting though. If it doesn't fix it, check the coils! I had that issue with my 96 2.7 and I replaced stuff for over a year! I ended up replacing the coil in the distributor and it drove like a dream. You should have 2 coil packs instead of a distributor

 

Well same shit different dollar sign! Still won't start. FML!

 

Changed the coils. Same shit!

 

Ok. Out of ideas. Y'all want me to post a video of what's next? Y'all decide...push it off a cliff, or just blow it the Fuck up!? Voting starts now...lines are open! FML!

 

So it won't start when the engine is above ambient temperature - that is the only problem?

Hmmm. Let me do a little research. Not super familiar with that motor and its ign system.

 

Did you do a compression test on all 4 cyls?

 

Just the first. 178@250rpm

 

Was the problem, now it just plain won't start.

 

Check them all just to be sure.

 

Do you have spark now and fuel pressure?

 

All I have now is frustration and exhaustion!

 

Now that it wont start it should be easier to diagnose
