yeah, no duh. but I had U-joints, not CV's. in a solid axle, not IFS...

though i did bust a U-joint it had more to do with 165,000 miles of salty Utah corrosion, not my 4x4... thats why I put in the 760x's... they're kinda unkillable!

Lucky!! Wish I could take mine to the beach....

Don't worry about the newbieness. Those jeep guys probably know less than you do (and think they know everything). heheheehe...

I've never wheeled sand before so I can't comment. Just make sure you take it easy....no wild and crazy stuff - that is, until you get more familiar with the truck, 4WD, and the terrain.

Have fun & take LOTS of pictures!!

Yeah, I know. I owned, built, and wheeled with a couple different Wranglers for about 8 years.

4-low is good in any situation where you need to go VERY slow to avoid smashing over stuff etc. Even if not on a hill.

My tacoma is 2WD, BTW, but I have an old Scout with flotation tires, 4.88's & lockers front & rear. I wouldn't dare run it in 4WD on dry pavement. I'd be breaking axles off. I've even seen this on 2WD vehicles with lockers, when the wrong gear oil was used. Just going around a tight corner at normal speeds, the axle would snap right at the end of the splines.

In 4-low, on soft dirt, on a full lock turn, the front inside wheel is literally digging a donut-shaped ditch, as it skids sideways. It's spinning at the same rate as the outside wheel, but traveling only half the distance.

Wish I had a better photo, but she's under non-op at the moment, and unavailable to pose in public.
