Not jumping into the hybrid / non hybrid brigade in this one, but don't be fussy - you say what more do you need? Everyone is different. Please don't project your setup needs onto others. For me, I specifically wanted bigger rear room coming from an AC for a decade so went with the full 4 door this time. And removed the seats too! Much more dry interior room and still open bed as I don't want a topper at the moment. I keep more than just straps in the back seat, and it ain't overlanding gear either.

Now if you want to get back to harping on whomever maxxed out the hideous 2024 Angulator Design Software on every aspect of the interior and exterior, then by all means....

Who knows when the hybrid will actually be available? A year? 18 months? Unless the MPG is way up, the gasser is fine.

Nah, if/when a tuner comes out I would think it would be easier to modify the non hybrid engine

Absolutely. Not the iForce Max specifically, but the power/torque it provides is the generational leap I've been waiting for in a Taco (+ rear disc brakes).

If you can swing the hybrid, I say wait. The hybrid system has a pretty good warranty with it. Its like getting a super charger with your truck for around 3k with a warranty.

I’m waiting out for the hybrid. Torque is another big advantage

Personally, I would wait until the hybrid comes out and someone actually drives one before some of these strong opinions are had.

Gonna guess it’s going to be similar to the Tundra gasser vs the hybrid. Both are great but the hybrid is insane. But the cost is up there

Well, we'll see. I suspect it's going to be similar to what you see on the Grand Highlander. Faster and better mpg (depends mostly on driver) but unfortunately low quantities of them. I would not be surprised if for the hybrid you are going to effectively pay at least an $8k premium. It will still be MSRP (per se) but it means dealers will be able to charge full MSRP plus MSRP for a bunch of crap you did not want. It's exactly what is going on now for the grand highlander. You can get a gas platinum for a few k below MSRP (as things stand now) but you want a max hybrid? Well then, be prepared to pay MSRP + 3-6k for options you did not want. It ends up being close to a $8k premium as I believe the price differential for the hybrid alone is $3700 (on the highlander) and consider you get a below MSRP discount for the non-hybrid. Worth it to you?

Perfect example of this is last week local dealer wanted $66k for a Grand Highlander Hybrid Max. MSRP (with destination) is $59k and change for the grand highlander without "accessories". So over $6k of crap added. Plus again, gas version of same car is few k below msrp. That vehicle is now gone from their site so someone paid at least close to that price. I fear you will see the same thing on Hybrid Max Tacomas.

I would have buyer’s remorse spending $50k on a standard TRD OR let alone anything more than that lol. Just flat out not worth these prices in any form.

I’ll never understand a “grand Highlander” buyer. Just get the van and stop kidding yourself

For many people, yes. But the van can’t tow 5000 lbs and has no ground clearance… van also looks terrible, obviously. Grand Highlander is a great option for those that need space + utility and still want decent fuel economy & less money than a Sequoia/Tahoe/Expedition.

Interesting on the towing 3500 for Sienna or 3500-5000 for the GH. They essentially seem like the same vehicle with a different door config wonder what drives the diff. Ground clearance on a crotchfruit hauler seems like a moot point. 7” vs 8” …

    Noted on the Tahoe comparison.

3500 is with hybrid CVTs and 5000 is with the turbo autos.

Definitely wait for Hybrid because even if you decide to get ICE you'll pay less than you did now. People with shiny new trucks now are going to feel a bit of regret when they see what prices are going to be like in just a few months.

Yeah, seems reasonable. The GH Hybrid Max is getting 25 and for some people 27 around town. 25 is most common (I've been watching GH threads for a few months now). The Land Cruiser is even more of a box then the GH (it's much wider then GH) so 23 does not surprise me at all. I suspect the Tacoma Hybrid will get very similar mpg to the GH around town (hybrid-wise). Maybe a little worse. So that means probably 24-25 mpg and if you are easy on the throttle then as much as 26-27. It's really more about the power so don't buy it for gas savings as unless gas jumps up super dramatically (like the crazy greenies hope it will) you won't recoup the extra cost.
