It will be better then that as gas engine is there now. It's narrower then the Land Cruiser (pretty sure anyways, did not check it but I know the Land Cruiser is very wide) so going off the highlander results I think more like 24mpg around town is reasonable. Now if you use it for 'fun' then you won't get that of course. :)

Both the '24 Taco and Land Cruiser are 78" minus the side view mirrors (with the Pro and TH being 1" wider due to the fenders & offset). The Grand Highlander application is probably getting 24 MPG due to the less aggressive non off road orientated tires.

Oh yeah, did not realize it was that wide. Correct on tires. I should have mentioned I assumed street tires. So off-road oriented Taco with hybrid probably looking at 22 mpg around town. Yeah, other then the fun of the hybrid power would be hard to justify that given you will pay $8-$10k more for the truck unless by some miracle Toyota decides to actually build a lot of the hybrid Tacos (won't happen). Usually they shoot for only 10 percent mix or so on hybrids. Hence stealerships will use the hybrid to force you to buy lots of crap you did not want on the truck. The stealerships just love the hybrids for that reason. :(

Hybrid technology longevity and reliability is a solid concern in regards to Toyota. Too bad those pesky Prius engineers won't share 27 years of hybrid tech, development and real world experience since its debut in 1997. I hear they locked themselves in the room and won't answer the door.

And on top of that are the turbos. All those high mileage hiluxes are just Australian propaganda. If the electric motors don't crap out the turbos will definitely blow the engine up.

Should have the stuck the B58s in all of these and be done with it. Maybe the TRD Pro version big reveal will be a B58 option.

Good catch, I didn’t account for the LC having full time 4WD. It could definitely be higher than 23 combined, which would be pretty impressive.

I understand that toyota is calling it this, but it makes little to no sense, given where the LandCruiser has been over the last 30 years.

There is a new LC in the ROW, and there is a sequoia and there is a GX550, all of which seem far closer to a real "LC" than what this new vehicle is.

Sequoia filled the gap that the LC left in the US market. I saw a few in Europe, they just look like Sequoias to be honest, pretty huge vehicles. 300 Series is alive and well in the US again under the LX600 badge, trimming some plasticky bits, replacing all air suspension with some aftermakert 3in lift and voila you got the "old" LC back. Once again they are massive vehicles, they're akin to getting the Tahoe as an Off-Roader.

I understand why Toyota is pushing the 250 series platform, The GX, the new LC, the 25 4Runner and the Prado, all the same vehicle. Its much more practical, they took the success that was the 4Runner/GX and made it better, with some marketing will be selling more of them across all model.

I can't wait until the 4Runner comes out, I'd like to see how they plan to differentiate it from the new LC, especially with pricing. The GX team did a good job, different engine and claimed different engineered tech. With the 2024 4R TRD Pros costing the same as the starting price of LC, 25s 4R will have the same price jump as the Tacos, so there will be a lot of overlap I believe, in mid trim models.

We will have 3 types of 250series, the "cheap" cloth seat mod ready 4Runners, the budget off-roaders LC, and the GX for the LC buyer who really wanted the Mark Levingston 21 speaker sound system, but it'll be mainly soccer moms driving them.

After seeing the price of a Tacoma 2024 Off Road with the premium option (- iforce max). 2025 4Runner Pros will hit a MSRP of ~62K-65K. 2024 Tacoma Pros will be ~60K-62K. Pros are fully loaded vehicles.

Everything that the Off Road Premium has +
    - ARB rear steel bumper
    - Bigger Brakes
    - Bigger Tires
    - Skid plate
    - iForce Max standard
    - ISO Dynamic Seats (i'm hoping this is an option, leg room on a double cab is already compromised in the second row)
    - Fox Shocks
    - Misc styling differences

Still cheaper than a fully spec'ed Land Cruiser.

Wow, that's bad. How does that compare to a Tundra equivalent?

But 4Runner historically been always more expensive, I'm still waiting for the builder to open up on the LC, its still giving an error on the website. We won't be able to compare the 4Runner till 2025 allocations start. If what you say is true, I'm even more intrigued with how it will differentiate the 4R Pro from the LC. Cause if its cheaper, with upgraded Fox Shocks, bigger tire, bigger brake as standard, without even the optional ISO seats and Arb Bumper, that's deal stealer. It'll kill the LC, like the 4Runner killed the FJ back in the day.

I haven't really looked into it, but is the ARB rear bumper a thing? I assume its optional. I haven't heard the bigger brakes feature, I hope that's standard and that be a pretty cool addition. Dynamic seat would be an option, I'm waiting to see how they review them during regular on-road driving, the 99% of driving the truck will see.

I'm too infatuated with the GX550, looks like they hit it out of the park, the Overland Trim specifically. If its does get the hybrid to its V6 engine, it'll be a no brainer. The V8 is what gives the current GX so much superior drive over the 4Runner.

This... buying a new vehicle is always about timing; whether a new model year or not. Save yourself money... balance ur wants with ur needs and savings.

There is a considerable storage under the seat, more than 3rd gen. The new power delivery was impressive too, I was more than content.

I don't care about what the Jones have.

Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
Turbo, Hybrid, an electric motor in the mix, hybrid battery and first-year of production with the usual glitches with computer control and programing, electrical gremlins, fails and constant TSB's. Then there's the usual body gremlins that are always part of the new generation saga. Is there a new transmission intro in the mix?

I think $3,500 for an extra 48hp that isn't always on-board and available/on demand is an expensive (lousy) deal for what is basically an experiment.

One of the latest Youtube videos out is saying even the guy who never tries to conserve gas on their channel (ie: lead foot) is achieving 21.6 or so around town with the Tacoma. That's really good to hear. Plus, no-one is really complaining about the power and given how badly Toyota dealers treat you on hybrid (ie: believe it's a right to steal from you) it definitely will never make economic sense to get it imo. Only buy it if you have to have the latest tech and fastest off the line. 0-6 in under 6 seconds on my truck really does not matter to me.

For sure he did not because they are not out and in the case of the hybrid the under-seat storage goes 'poof' as that is where the battery is.
