Any word yet? I pass around your name on FJcruiserforums so hopefully the member didn't go off of my reco. Maybe the buyer misunderstood and thought you wanted a core return? I don't know. I am notorious for giving people the benefit of the doubt in situations like this.

No word yet. I am going to assume that he may be at work, and it might be this afternoon before I get a response. If you read the entire email exchange you would know for sure, this was NOT a core exchange request. He specifically asked for a 4WD assembly to be sent out in exchange for the incorrectly ordered 2WD.

People have been doing forms of that scam for years and years. I know people would buy expensive pc parts at best buy, swap their old and broken ones (or even just cheaper ones) and return them. Most cs people didn't look in the box or look closely enough to see the difference. Heard it done at other retailers for items too.

But doing it to the little guys is just stupid. They notice things and look closely vs the big box stores

just curious, if he got a 2wd in the first place, then asking for a 4wd, what was the hub that you got back? is one of the new ones for someone else.

I haven't had this happen to me yet but whenever I get a return I video tape myself opening the box they sent back..... would make great paypal ammo later.

I also make outgoing videos of the shipping labels next to whatever i'm shipping with the box opened and contents on a scale to confirm weight.... that way if whatever comes back weighs more or less you can prove it right away.

what a douch! how do you "accidently" send a used assembly in place of a brand new one.....especially someone who supposedly knows so much, just doesn't "fit"!......

If he is in New Mexico, I'll stop by to help him "install" the new one. But just a warning, I've seen stuff other parts get broken compleatly by accident while pulling and installing a hub...

The hub I got back was a used 2WD.

It is my guess, but obviously this is a GUESS and can't be proven, that there are 2 trucks. One is a 2WD and the other a 4WD. Order 2wd, pay $284. Claim accidentally ordered 2WD, can you please send 4WD? Then return the old 2wd from the other truck, in hopes that I wouldn't notice. If I then sent a 4WD and then refunded the $100 difference, then he would be basically getting a 2WD assembly for free as an end result. Again this is only conjecture and a guess, with NO evidence of proof. Still waiting on reply.

If it was me, I would have sent you back the biggest adult toy i could find and then had one hell of a laugh when you posted the results!!!

you could always do the same to him, buy an "adult toy" box it up and send it to him. then let him know that you mailed the return stuff with the refund in the box and give him a tracking number of said "toy" so he thinks he pulled off the scam and gets all excited only to open a box containing said "toy" letting him know that you say he can go f*ck himself and you will provide the tools needed!

Not sure this would hold up too well as evidence. Nothing that prevents a person from opening a part of the box without a label closing it up, swapping parts, retaping and then taking video of the opening as if it were the first time. Not saying it's a bad idea, just don't think it would hold much weight. Identifying mark on the other hand, good idea.
