    Hi all.

    I upgraded from a F250 7.3L diesel to a 2015 Tacoma (4x, v6, 6-speed) back in February.

So far everything is great, but I have one nagging question. I find that running the A/C has a very noticeable drag on engine power. I can ask the dealer, but wanted to first ask if others find it easy to notice the A/C is on just due to the truck feeling a bit sluggish. Not a lot, but I'm surprised I can tell.

I understand my last truck had more torque, but this one is actually higher in horsepower. (Ok, 236 rated instead of 235. But still... :)

yeah you feel it... It is also one of the things i noticed when i switch to my 2013 taco from a 01 chevy 2500hd with the 6.0L v8.

I have noticed the more i use it the less noticeable it is... as if the compressor is freeing up etc.

You will also feel the "bump from behind" when sitting at a stop light and the AC kicks on and the idle goes up a 1-200 rpms.

Compressor definitely steals some power. There are a couple choices on the air selector knob that do t run the compressor. Feet and maybe in your face. I only use it when I need it.

FYI i have done the mod so that the feet / defrost or defrost only DOES NOT run the ac when selected.... essentially i have manual control over AC regardless of where the air is directed.

Its a simple quick wire mod in the cab.

I've notice that 'bump from behind' feel sitting at the light. First time I really thought someone bumped me!
