So I was filling up my wiper fluid this morning and noticed this in the paint right above my head might. Truck is less than 3 months old and it looks to small and perfect to be a rock. It’s pretty deep and already rusted. Opinions or thoughts on what i should do? (I have the exterior protection plan through auto armor as well)

Unfortunately, rock chips are super common on these trucks. you could clean it and get touch up paint from the dealer.

If you have some type of third party protection plan, just call and see what they will do.

Was recently told here voo-doo blue doesn't have an issue its the previous blue, yet when buying my truck all the dealers recommended not getting the voo-doo blue color, so who's to believe?

2 years later, they're all over my quicksand truck. Not going to start filling them all so I just ignore them.

The voodoo blue on my 08 FJ still looks amazing and I’ve only washed it a handful of times throughout its 12yr/250k mile life.
One of the reasons I went with the same color on the taco

It was the blazing blue that had paint issues

My bad, it’s the blazing blue that has the roof paint fading and clear coat peeling issue.

It's not. Every car gets rock chips. My 15 F150 front end was covered with them.

Not worth the hassle and risking having it redone because something else would get scratched up. Just get the touch up paint pen and do it yourself.

Water based paint that is used now can get the same coverage that the old solvent paint could with fewer thinner coats. This results in a better overall finish, but a thinner paint.

There has been war raging between water based paint and the older solvent based paint. Both have pros and cons.

I have been touching up my chips, I figure in 15 years there will be more touch up paint than factory paint. At that point I will pay to have the whole truck repainted.

Which is not an EPA regulation thing but it is because manufacturers are using a thin layer of cheap paint. Rocks dont chip Lexus paints as easily (and they dont erode with air for sure) for a reason, they are subjected to the same EPA regulations.

If this is going to bother you a lot then you really should go get some PPF (paint protection film)put on the truck. If I were to do it over again I would have put PPF on my hood, headlights and A pillars. Those areas have gotten tons of rock chips. You could also get PPF for your windshield if your were going all out. The paint on these trucks is prone to chipping, but I haven't seen a modern car that didn't experience the same problems.

You are paying more for a Lexus so I suppose they could use more/better paint. But got anything to back that up?

Also put it on the top 4 inches of the tailgate. When closing the tailgate thats where you push, dirty hands, or a dirty truck will cause that area to get all sorts of scratched up.
