    I welded up my exhaust and found out I need a ujoint and an inner tierod. Good to go also!

    Yeah, I normally crack it open and drain it and do other stuff while that's happening. It's pretty thick stuff, another thing you could do is go for a drive and get it up to temp, then drain it. And while you're waiting for it to drain place the new bottles/jug of gear oil on the engine to warm it up and pour easier.
    It's funner when you're unprepared...
