He has kids so maybe it's best if he keeps them. Dad told me my truck feels "loose as fuck"

I reckon I'll keep it for now, but I have to say I have mixed feelings.

Maybe because it drives me crazy knowing that there is something not perfect about the truck. It would be different if I had decided I wanted that thing off.

How do people fix that anyway?

It would be easy if I could just get a wrench in there, but of course you can't and that is why they use weld nuts. Gotta be a way though.

You could just cut a hole in the frame and tack it back in!

I like welded nuts. It makes life easier when they work well, I deal with not welded nuts often at work and they're a pain in my assssssss

I figure that's what I have to do, but the words "cut a hole in the frame" make my skin crawl! It's so close to the end I can probably get in there easily enough though, without having to get too Dr Frankenstein.

I agree, welded nuts are excellent.

I suppose its hard to sense sarcasm over the interwebs! I would never suggest someone cut a hole in their frame for something as simple as a nut!

I'm not sure how your truck would react with 883's. Mine handles fine without a sway bar, but my coils are heavier than yours.

I generally find that I get used to whatever I am driving no matter how "good" or "bad" it handles. Don't get me wrong, there are many vehicles out there I really do not enjoy driving, but I have never found anything to be unmanageable in any conditions. Well, tires really can be a point of failure.

The sway bar is on now, and I have not noticed any play. The weld nut broke free when the bolt was just loose enough to let the bracket slide out, and it was on the front of the bracket which has a slot rather than a hole for the bolt. It's probably fine the way it is. Just my Obsessive Compulsion is acting up.

Hi all - stoked to see there is a bustling thread for Nova Scotia! Finally purchased my first truck the other day, 2003 xtra cab 4x4. I grew up with Tacomas so I'm super stoked to finally have my own. Plenty of future plans for it (5th year mech eng, woohoo for CAD :D) Hope to see some of you around!

Nice! Looking forward to seeing it in person someday if you can make it out for coffees with the gang.

Wednesday might work for me but 7 will be too early. I will not free up until around 8:30 - 9:00. Definitely don't wait for me though!
