I can't say I've ever looked for one, but I can say I can't remember ever seeing one around here recently. Kinda weird actually.

 

There was one on Kijiji in elmsdale for a while. Exactly what I want. Just beaten on.

As for welding, I really want a decent TIG set up. That way I can fab up stainless exhausts allllll day long.

 

I wanted a TIG so i could play around making an aluminum rack

 

I feel like TIG would be tricky to just pick up and learn, although it would be super rewarding.

We need a tig welder mitch. One of us atleast. I'm fine to use wire feed for skids and shit though. Don't care what they look like.

 

Actually, there was an early 90s 4 Runner for sale back in Sept/Oct here in Coldbrook, black, 3" suspension lift, 35" tires, manual, they were asking $9k i believe

 

Seems a little steep but if it was mint it may well have been worth it!!! I'm looking ideally for a 96-2000. The older ones don't appeal to me as much. If I went that old I'd probably get a pickup or a t100.

 

You're right we do! In reality we just need an arc welder. Then convert it!

Aluminum is the fussiest metal out there. Gotta weld it on AC and make sure there's absolutely no impurities.

Looks like we have a vouching member here Mitch, so ah, not to put you on the spot, but by a (so far) unanimous vote, I want Mitch to build me a bed rack lol

 

My brother has an '04 dbl cab 3.4 in Moncton. Uses it for hauling kayaks and stuff around for his outdoor adventure business. It has never been wheeled. To him it is just a car with a box. Not sure how well he has looked after it but I will be awfully tempted to buy it when he gets a new one. 04 Dbl is probably my favorite Tacoma. But it's like anything else at that age it could become a money pit really quickly

Hahaha I'd help you throw one together! Draw it up we'll get some prices on materials and see what we can do. I have access to arc, mig, and tig.

 

Off topic, but its a shame you're in NB, my GF is wanting a bigger vehicle, she likes the Jeep Patriot, but i pointed out an FJ, shes kind of liking them, wanted to sit in one and ask someone who knows about them how they are long term. My only comment was "Its a Toyota......"
