Whatever. New parts are always awesome. Excuses are for normal non-car people.

My favorite part is how your just like metal on metal. Not too bad could probably drag the winter out of it.

I find the pads are really a lot more durable when you wear through that top coating

Dad's garage is plumbed for in floor heat, but he uses a heat pump instead.

In other news, I also need a wheel bearing!

I thought you had to spray brake cleaner on them and chip that stuff off?

I wish the FJ had rear drums. On the pick up they just seem to last forever. I think I changed the shoes on my 98 Taco twice in almost 500,000kms and the last time it was more for resale being able to say "all new brakes"...lol

Part of the reason I'm happy it has drums in the rear. People complain about it but realistically toyota put 4 pot calipers on the front of these things.. pretty substantial considering giant rams have 2 pot floaters

I was pretty stoked to see dads 02 TRD had 4 pots up front, but figured that was a TRD feature. Came to realize mine had the same and was super stoked. Woohoo

They stop on a dime and seize on a quarter. Lost cound now but I would guess I have bought easily 4 front and 1 rear caliper in 280K kms. LOL.... With the 98 Taco it was exhaust manifolds....lol

Yeah they aren't bad. Rotors are even a decent price. Softens the hit a bit. Did the death wobble thing a few years ago and I am telling you having the wheel taken out of your hands at 65mph is probably top three scariest moments in my life. Being 16 hours away from home didn't help much either.

Fuk THAT. My buddy's jeep had the death wobble, but I never got to experience it. My wheels are unbalanced up front so my wheel shakes but nothing tremendous.
