I had a seized caliper and every time I braked I'd get a retarded wobble, to the point where I couldn't keep the truck straight until the pad wore away

Anyone have an opinion on KYB shocks? $115 each for oem rear replacements doesn't sound too bad. 280K is well beyond service life expectancy I guess. lol

I don't think bilstine are much more than that. KYB I'd just a economy brand.

I have been looking for Bilstein prices on this side of the border and 5100 are $175 at the same place. (Bilstein (33-187174) 5100 ). Add taxes and that sets it close to $400 for rear shocks. For a truck that is off road maybe 5 days a year I am OK with the downscale. Ouch.

There is still a motor in there? Thought it all withered away from the constant grime coverage

Thanks for the links Andrew. I have been going back and forth all afternoon. Rockauto is all out of Bilstein stock...I was kind of shocked. I know there was a period of time last year you could not find 5100 front adj's. Must be a limited run and then when they are gone you wait.

The $153 isn't too bad at Amazon......BUT..... They are back ordered too.

    The struggle is real....lol

Geez that is a good price. I must call Jason up there. Not like that shop to have good prices.....lol. Good bunch though even back when they were an independent shop. I used to be a customer when I lived in Fredericton before we built down here.

I better call up there tomorrow. The US sites are all stating Billy's are on back order with know known delivery date anticipated....grrr

What do you think.....Do we have winter beat? Ground is bare and even the stakes I have marking my driveway for plowing are leaning over in the thawing ground. Nothing in the forecast through 'til March 14th. I am loving global warming.

Mitch I've been running bald 100 dollar kijiji mismatch tires all winter no issues! Toss the mudders back on. And Brian I'm not saying we're through because I don't want the bad luck, but I'm really really hopping. It's awfully soupy ground up here too.

My folks were in our yard yesterday and dad (80 this year) stepped the back tire of his 4Runner off the pavement. I laughed but he was bound and determined he would be back to fix the divot he spun up....lol

Speaking of Runners....His is a '13 SR5 and a nice silver. I love it. But he got the 3rd row seating and it is amazing how much room it takes up in the back. The unit actually sits on the floor so you the floor is easily 8 inches higher than the non optioned Runner. Just ruins it for me to buy since I think he is planning to get another Yukon. They miss the big Chev they had for 10yrs.

Big bad Barry is a nice dude. Just remember to use locking pliers on springs and just be less of a smart ass than mitch and you'll be ok.
I love 4runners. I've been on the hunt for one for a while now. Rare as hens teeth for what I'm looking for (mint condition v6 and preferably a manual, 3rd generation).
