    *Apologies in advance for my rambling thoughts and shitty sentence structure *

    Time for a *fun* discussion!

    Current situation:
    I am running P(assenger)-rated Toyo Open Country A/T II's in 265/70-16. These tires were purchased under the pretenses of only being my winter set of tires, also why I went with P-rated over C/D/E because I don't plan on leaving the pavement/gravel to often in the winter. So far they have treated me very well; good grip in rain/snow, and have predictable traction loss (ie. lose traction when I want to drift aha)

    Now that it's coming up on the warmer weather and the trails will eventually open up, I am on the hunt for a new set of summer A/T tires.

    First set of tires I put on the truck when I got it was the BFGoodrich KO's 265/70/16 (Not KO2's, but the OG's ha) and they performed good for what I needed, and wore decently well with frequent rotations (Every oil change). I eventually wore them down and picked up a nail in their later life, so I sold them to allocate $$ elsewhere.

    I work for a company that uses a place in Dartmouth for their fleet, so I went by today for some quotes. This is what they quoted me;

    Toyo Open County A/T II
    Five x (245/75-16) for $1282.26 (install+balance included)

    General Grabbers A/T2
    Five x (245/75-16) for $1207.26 (install+balance included)

    Tire size; I have no lift and don't plan on installing a lift for the life of the new tires to be purchased. I wanted to go to a tall and skinny military style tire, 255/80-16 but can't find anyone/anywhere to get them. So I might just go back to 245's

    A/T vs M/T; I commute ~100kms round trip Monday-Friday for work, mostly Highway. Leaning towards the A/T's

    TL/DR: Looking for a new summer A/T tire; General Grabbers a good brand? Should I go back to BFG's or stick with Toyo? What are you running/how much was it per tire?

    Cheers!

    I ran Toyo Open Country MT's the last two years. Amazing tires, crazy tough sidewalls and tread. I'm assuming the AT's would be similar.

    I don't think a 255/80 is a size, there's 255/85, but you would need to cut to fit them.

    How many kilometers are you getting out of each set?

    I ran the KO's for 46,370kms (3 Years) with frequent rotations, and had roughly 60% when I sold them.
    The Toyo's have been on for a collective 18,724kms (2 Winters), and are at 73% (9.5/32" vs 13/32" New). They should last me another winter or two.

    With regards to the 255/80 tire size, I only mentioned it because of this picture I seen floating around on some Tacoma facebook pages.

    Do these sizes hold true for the most part? I can't confirm or deny haha

    Well, "fit" and "fit with no modifications" are two different things.

    I run 285 75 16's and I'm lifted 3 inches. They rub, and I need to run spacers/wheels with smaller back spacing.

    I've just never heard of a 255 80 16.

    I'm honestly not sure how many KM I've put on those tires. At the end of the day, I'm not overly concerned with it. I run them aired down too often.

    What I can tell you is they wore awesome, my alignment is permanently fucked and I had minimal feathering.

    I am a Toyo fan also..... On my FJ now are a set of Toyo ATII's (285/70/17) with maybe 25K kms on them. Honestly they are not showing much wear at all and I have had a couple guys asked me how I like my NEW tires recently. I have them steelies so it is a heavy combo. They are awesome in snow and for the life of me I have been unable to hydroplane them. Aired down to 20psi they have done two tours of Rausch Creek Offroad park in PA. That is rock crawling country and the tires did incredibly well.

    I have a set of Michelin LTX's (285/70/17)that are old as the hills on my summer alloys. I have 300K on the truck and the Michelins have been on and off it for probably 100,000kms of that.... The damn things will just not die. But as a snow tire they suck after about 50K. Great summer tire but snow and slush got just plain scary.

    Can you get ToyoATII Extreme's in the size you want? I wanted them but they only came in a 295 and were just too big for my lift.

    I can't really comment, I've only had my BFG K02's since January, Traded my old car for them :)
    245/75 R16
    But I really do like them in the snow, predictable, good traction in 4x4, cornering in snow in 2wd is decent IMO.

    I have 255/75/17 which is the same as the 255/80/16 and I love them. Perfect size for our trucks I think at exactly 32". 17s are easy to get because thats the stock jeep tire but 16s might be hard to find?

    Brother inlaw on the island lifted his '15 Tacoma dbl cab. Got the new Deegan 37 Mickeys under it. Looks good but he needs and inch in the back end. What is the suggested method to level that back?

    For buying a full leaf pack id say yes. But for just an AAL any brand will work. My original ones were cheap procomp ones and i ran them for like a year and a half i think.

    And a couple more;

    I had to split the case 3 times after I put it back together. It was terrible, don't play with trannies when you're in a rush or tired or excited!

    There's truckers usually hang out on channel 1. Wheelers are usually on 16 (because 4x4=16). Have you tuned it? I have an SWR meter you can borrow. I owe you a coffee and some cash for that radio so I have to meet with you soon!
