So, I'm in the market for some new work boots. I walk through foot foamers (its an acitic sanitizer) all the time at work and it eats boots. Seems like the more I spend the less they last.. Cheap non-water proof boots don't really get eaten but my feet get soaked and they give me headaches. Nice leather more expensive boots blow out on the sides where the upper meets the outsole.

Right now I have some Terra Ballistics, they're nylon and they're holding up pretty decent but they're no longer water proof.

Have any of you guys come across chemical resistant/proof uppers? I can't really wear full mid calf height rubber boots because I spend a lot of time on ladders and tight spaces and they suck for that stuff.

If not a boot, maybe some sort of spray that would help prolong the boot?

I'm honestly willing to spend upwards of 400 bucks on a pair if they'll keep my feet dry for a year.

Between shift work, and Monday and Friday night hockey, it's hard to go to meetings, not to mention any time it's nice out, if I'm not working or doing something else, I'm out on my motorcycle, lol.

I used to be in the same boat as you, working with chemicals, and wet surfaces with splashes and such. Like you said, the more expensive the boot, the less they seemed to last. Blow out the sides, or the toe cap. I looked everywhere for good boots. In the end, I just wore rubber boots for short periods of time, to save my regular boots from when I was going to be around the stuff that was destroying them. In the end, I transferred to another department, where my boots now last like 2 years, lol. So I never ever found a solution to the problem. Fyi, I was in that situation for like 12 years. I have heard good things about the Gore Tex type shelled boots, but have nothing to back that up.
I realize this was no help to you, but I feel.your pain.

    I'll
I'll have to check out those Gore Tex boots. I can't stand rubber boots. Most of the guys here wear them, and I've tried, but they're too cumbersome for the worm I do

It worked fine. Only thing we needed was the spacer to set the bearing on to place the load correctly.

We could have used one of the old races that was there I'm sure, but the balljoint press piece worked well.

Looking for some advice for my current situation:

    - The Driver-side-Rear bodymount bushing is shot
    - I set out today to replace all 4
    - I removed the bad bushing no problem
    - Driver-side-Front I got the cab mounting bolt (goes through the cab and bushing) out no problem
    - I got 1 of the frame bracket bolts out
    - and of course, I stripped the 2nd frame bracket bolt.

My question now is, how the f**k do I remove that stripped bolt now? It is tucked quite nicely in a very tight spot..

I have some mastercraft wrenches made for getting stripped bolts out. Only thing is i live in the valley.

Anyone have any stock fender flares for a 2nd gen they dont want? Or know anyone selling some?

Mitch if i order a clutch could i talk you into installing it?

    Update:
The bolt is out, and the new bushings are in! Only installed the Front and Rear Driver side so far; had to shut down early and button up the truck.

    Tackling the Passenger side today

Nice work! How did you get the bolt out in the end?

    After walking away from the situation for a couple minutes for a breather;

I went back and filed the edges of the bolt, squaring it up as much as possible. Then I jacked the cab up a tad more so I could get a ratchet on it (instead of a wrench) and slowly, very slowly worked the bolt out. Every other turn I would switch and tighten it a small amount while blasting it with WD.

In the end she came out, and I swapped the bolt for one I had laying around. I swapped the Driver-side bushings the first day, and finished the passenger-side yesterday. And thankfully it solved the clunking sound I was chasing down the whole time!
