What do you mean use the same breather? The locker is inside the axle housing. The piece beside the third member is the actuator, but I'm not sure if they have a breather.

I watched the video, I see what you're talking about now!

Interesting that Toyota puts the actuator breather so much higher than the diff breather.

Yeah that actuator breather was something most of us with them never messed with. Some ran the breathers up into the engine bay....Pretty but alot of work for no gain. Not sure how they are set up on the Taco

Looks alright, but I would want to know how much more it costs over a standard shackle hitch mount.

The missing background info is that this is for my expedition trailer rig.

I am sure this will be more expensive, we have not even begun to look at the fab work I'll need to mount it. The issue with standard mounts is that they do not rotate. I have been looking for a robust hitch with three axis of rotation, and there are not a lot of options. The Max Coupler looks like an option, but $350 before tax and shipping and still needs fab work on the trailer end to mount it in place of the existing surge assembly. And, I am not sure I really like the Max Coupler.

    Any ideas?

I might have to start a build thread for the trailer...

Ah, you're looking to build a military style trailer then. That I am not entirely sure where to find the hitch or ring. Could manufacture something from a large piece of DOM steel, or bend a large round stock and weld it into place.

Really the best option that I can think of is to find an old LSVW or MLVW and get the hitch off of them. I'm sure you've seen as well as I the abuse that they can take.

Actually, I just bought a trailer that is the predecessor of the LSVW trailer. Problem is that for the 5/4 ton and LSVW, the pintle rotates but the lunette on the respective trailer does not. I would rather that the lunette rotate, like on the Iltis trailer, so that I can use a pintle that mounts into the 2" receiver on the truck. The lunette in the link above can rotate on the stud, so I want to see if I can fabricate a mount for that. Not sure that's a good option, but I do not really want to hard mount a rotating pintle onto the truck and loose the 2" receiver in the process.

Then that ring is probably the solution for your problem. Just get a piece of DOM steel that has the same ID as the OD of the pintle shaft. Drill a hole for a Zerk fitting and weld it to the trailer. Don't know about cost, but probably the best solution with least work.
