I still spent more time looking for the press adapters than I did working. One day I might try this thing where I get all the tools together before I even start!

No mine doesn’t have the Trail Teams Package. I think I looked at it when I bought mine new and the Trail Teams was mostly an accessory bundle, and several of the accessories didn’t interest me. Good lookin truck tho!

Now I feel bad for the rotfl guy

How much drama involved in changing those out? Pretty sure I have at least one gone, wouldn't mind changing it when I replace the serpentine belt soon but don't want to buy three on the chance..

It's good odds you need the two upper pulleys, I guess they are the worst for failing. I haven't done the job myself yet, but I don't think it's to bad.

It is very easy to check them. Just open the hood for light, take off the skid plate, and then reach up from underneath with a 13mm wrench. Put the wrench on the tensioner and turn counterclockwise to release the tension. While holding the tension off you can spin and wiggle the pulleys to check them. Probably even easier with a second person but doable alone.

Idler pulleys wear pretty fast if they get splashed, so totally cool to laugh. I want to try to source some better sealed bearings and rebuild the pulleys for next time.

The idler pulley bearings are ball bearings, so a little but of play is completely normal. Spin them and see if they sound dry (kind of like a skateboard wheel, if that makes sense).

When they get really bad, you'll more than likely be able to hear them with the truck running (speaking from experience).

They are a pretty quick job if you get new bolts with the new pulleys. I had to weld a socket onto my tensioner pulley as the bolts was now just pure rust. It is also left hand threaded, the others are normal threads. You need to put a load onto the pulley to tell if they are on the way out. If they feel chewy they are on their way out, of they sound dry they are well past gone.

My tensioner pulley is shot, can clearly hear it with the truck running, and when I popped off the belt to replace the alternator, the bearing was dry and noisy just spinning by hand. All others were good. Perhaps I could take a vid when I finally get around to replacing it. Like @Canoehead, I plan on keeping my old tensioner and replacing the bearing with a seald one, the spring still seems good and stiff.

@TacoMitch93, a long time ago, you had the same idea, to buy a new bearing, did you ever do that and save the part number my 4cyl friend?

do you 6cyl guys have to remove the fan to remove your belt?

I'm sure there is a way with the right wrenches to pull everything without removing the fan. The fan takes a minute to pull and makes life so much easier. I just replaced my tensioner pulley, the tensioner looked like more work than I wanted to do at the time, but I still have the one I bought in a box somewhere, just used the pulley off of it.

I was going to save some pulleys and replace the bearings, but the pulley bodies were so rotten it wasn't worth the time to clean them up to replace the bearings. Toyota of course used a weird size on the bearings, so a spacer is required to make up the difference.

Just a quick Note to make sure everyone is aware a group of us are getting together tomorrow for some valley off road fun. We're meeting at Exit 17 (Kingston/Greenwood) on Hwy 101 at noon tomorrow. There is a gas station, a Tim Horton's, and a convenience store at the South end of the road the off ramp connects to if anyone needs supplies before we take off. My plan was to meet everyone there and then lead us on a run up the North mountain and then see how everyone felt about the trail we take and use that info to decide where we go from there. Anyone and everyone is free to join us, just meet at the off ramp at noon. I believe this is actually exit 17E just so everyone knows we aren't talking about exit 17 off of Marshall Road... If anyone has any questions send me a PM and I'll be glad to answer if I can. I believe @D2. @k.strong @ravenlord and possibly others are planning to come along. I have a buddy from work who has an '18 OR who may join us as well. Hope to see everyone there tomorrow!
