    Welp... This happened tonight..
    upload_2019-10-29_21-36-36.jpg

Yep, That means my own attempt at making a bender was a big fail.
Near as I could tell, I must have been getting flex at the top of my die allowing the pipe to flatten out during the bend. I even shimmed it with more metal so that I had to hit the pipe with a hammer just to make it fit into the die so I could start bending. After 6 + months of working on it I became fed up. I don't know for sure since I can't find all the receipts, but I think I put over $300 into this ( steel, Jack, Welding wire, gas, CNC plasma cutting the die, bits of hardware ) and looking back. I just should have bought one.

its a shame since a lot of this metal fab suff is hard to find in Canada, and ordering from the US is costly. ( that was my whole driving factor to make one, I imagined that my Die would work, and I could save a lot of garage fabricators some serious $$ by selling the CNC files for $20, I designed it in such a way that scaling it up / down would have been easy. This would have been the kick off to my little dream of a fabrication business )

Perhaps if I ever get a CNC Plasma table, I can re-visit this. But for now its shelved.

if $$ was no object, I *might* have been able to make a 2nd one, better, stronger, not flatten the tube. I guess the silver lining is that none of my welds broke :) and that was a 20T hydraulic Jack applying perpendicular load!

    @Canoehead

Better buy your pipe buddy! 1st week of November we'll be getting our sliders done!

Once the sliders are done, my pipe bender is available for NSBS Shenanigans! so start thinking of what you may need ( headache rack?, Bed Bars, Military trailer canopy thingy @Canoehead keeps talking about, Roll Cages, UCA? { lol, I don't know if I'd trust a UCA that I built...})

    when in doubt, throttle out

Wow Dan, that's a big move! I am really sorry your DIY bender didn't work out, I know you put a lot more than money into it. Still, I am sure that you learned a lot in the process and that will serve you (and all of us) into the future. Speaking of the future, it looks like it's time to get some prototype sliders on the go! And, I have no doubt the larger NSBS world is gonna reap benefits from this move too!

    The Bender arrived!

The Die was in a wooden box, that was in a box, that was in a box...o_O

    Mostly Un-boxed.

I assembled it last night in my garage, but did not snap any pics, Hands were covered in the oil they slather this stuff in so it wont rust during shipping.

It went together pretty well, just a bit of minor futzing to get everything lined up and operating smoothly. Man this thing is BEEF! The stand is beef! the die is heavvvy, the bender itself is heavy...

i just need to figure out where I want to mount it.

YMMV, but I found Summit Racing easy to deal with, fast shipping, and no suprise custom fees! Not sure If I got lucky, or if they actually know how to ship to Canada to avoid that mess ( like RockAuto does )
    very happy at this point.

    Hey Everyone!

I know the TW calendar submissions are in full swing and that reminded me that I wanted an Atlantic TW Calendar.

what do you think? I'm pretty sure we have enough active people in this thread to get 12 pictures together and make a custom calendar. I can organize it, print it, ship it etc...

it does not have to be 100% truck related, maybe you went camping in a cool spot, and got there with your truck,
perhaps its a shot of you changing oil, or slamming through that mud hole, or that time you buried your taco to the frame rails, maybe its you on a group ride with a bunch of other 4x4's

    who wants to participate?
    the cost is approx $15ish

I'm in. I'll dig out some pics, no matter to me if my truck gets in the calendar or not.

I'll participate, I'll dig through my flickr and find some pics when I get home. Flickr isn't supported on the work computer internet browser.

Thanks all , I’m trying to get the truck out of the towing lot they are being pricks about it
Get the truck home and see what I can salvage see if I can get it back on the road if not I’ll part it out

I image the engine transmission will be fine from what I could actually see I think the most damage if any is just the roof all the glass was fine I think it’s still drive able as is I don’t think it’s a total loss

Anyone have a pair of old coil springs? Looking for some backup on my trailer and I tossed my stock coils long ago...

You could probably pick some up at Kenny's

I see you in and around Burnside pretty often! Not so much the last couple weeks though.

Everywhere wants a lot for them. I don’t need operational springs for a vehicle. They can be old and worn but still be good for the trailer as helpers.

My office was on Topple in Burnside but we moved to Hammonds Plains in Sept.

I think I have the 2nd gen stock front coils in my shed. Also OME 883s. Would like to sell the 883s, but you can have the stock ones.
