With the number of people running the new splash guards, we're getting some serious mileage out of the template now :cookiemonster:

Just gotta get em to post images at the thread to bump it for more exposure, wanna get Toyota to send me a free truck and have their manufacturing process entirely change to use our template

Just a bit of patience and muscle. One thing to mention from the vid: we forgot to put the 35mm nut back on the end of the CV before yanking it out which prevents any damage to the threads. We got lucky and nothing was damaged when it shot out and hit the pavement.

Haven't had a chance to get it dirty yet but as far as install goes, the template works like a charm. Such an improvement over factory and so easy to do!

Hey! I just did this on the weekend, Replaced the Front Diff CV shaft Seal, and installed the ECGS Bushing while I was at it.

here is what worked for me.
    I pry bar and a hammer :)

First I was trying to hit it on the little cut outs on the tulip, that was a waste of time IMO, when I moved to the actual end of the tulip between the dust sheild and the tulip, that's when things happened for me.
Also that "C" clip that holds it in has lots of wiggle room on the end. so what I would do is rotate the CV, give it a few hits, rotate, hit, rotate, hit.... you get the idea.

what you are trying to do, is get it so the "C" clip's opening is facing down, this minimizes how much is sticking out. Once I hit the magic formula, she came out with little fuss. @Canoehead said that he was able to use a small pry bar close to the top of the T-Case and pry it off with little force. Honestly, I think its all about getting the clip in the right position.

Timmy the tool man has an excellent video on removal / install, during the install he mentions putting the C clip in the proper orientation.
I wish I took a picture of my clip when the shaft was out, you could see where the splines of the shaft were digging into the clip. I probably should have replaced it, but it was getting late, and old D2 figured it was "future D2's problem"

Install was easy. once the C clip was in the correct position and the splines lined up I did a reverse slide hammer motion on the shaft ( stop laughing! ) and she went in with very little force.

My own custom designed and printed Front Drivers side Diff seal install tool. This installs the seal 5.5mm deep in the hole ( according to timmy the toolman's youtube channel )
works really good with the dead blow, just pound it till she stops.

then things went quick. @Canoehead dropped by and started handing me tools, and parts, and was giving me torque specs..... so no further pics!

Just to clarify a few things about what I was talking about regarding getting the CV axle out of the diff.
    upload_2020-1-7_8-22-48.jpg

first I was hitting it on the cut out's highlighted in red, I got no love from this ( and yes I know that's not a factory Toyota CV, but you get the idea )
once I hit it between the dust shield and the tulip shown in blue, it came right out. I used a medium prybar and my 3lb dead blow.
in yellow is the C clip, in this pic the opening of the clip is not facing down, see how much it sticks out now? Imagine that's inside your Diff, and you are trying to remove the axle, not gonna happen. That's why IMO you need to keep rotating it and trying to remove it until you get the clip just perfect so its not sticking out much. Also I would recommend you buy a new C clip so that you can replace it once its out. I'll bet you a coffee that it got a bit chewed up

I beleive its part 43411c on the diagram below.

It came out with the pulling tool,

I’m just wondering I can get 2 1st gen rims for 50 dollars I would be running 3 2nd gen rims and the 1 1st gen I don’t know if I should buy another set of 4 ?

My opinion is If you have 3x 2nd gens, it might be worth getting the 2x 1st gen rims, not sure how wheel balancing would be with mix-matched rims on either side, at least i figure matching fronts and matching rears would keep things level as the 2nd gen rims might be heavier

Gislaved Nordforst 200 tires are pretty awesome. Braking performance in this nastiness is excellent, and even in 2wd it keeps the tail nice and planted. Only downside is the limited size and load selection as they are a SUV tire and not a truck tire.
