Soooooo I just got off the phone with Andy's Tire, Valley Tire, and Shay Tire, no one has any 315/75/16 KM3s, and Michelin cant give them a production date, the dream is fading from me! Use the Force Luke!!!

    Bummer!
just a shot in the dark.
have you thought about calling MajorDiscount here in Dartmouth?
they had my wildpeaks shipped from Toronto to the store in 2 days.

you *just* might know a few locals that wound't mind picking up the tires on your behalf.... Just sayin!

I'll have to get the frame plate cut first I guess :)

@Canoehead wants me to have one of the skid plates cut ASAP, I think I'll work on that today between meetings, then when that's cut and into Canoe's hands I'll get the pencil out and get you & @Fahrenheit some prices and go from there.

My dude, if I was allowed to have you pick them up for me I would, the only problem is my tires are free, and I have to present them with my tire coupons and Michelin ID in order to actually get them, were it not for that, I would be forever greatful!

    I figured as much,
I have a friend who had a Heep with 40's ( I think ) on it. courtesy of Michelin.

it was parted out earlier this year, I'm trying to convince him of going Taco

I did make them, 2x now lol. first time the square tube was right under the pinch weld which I did not like, so I extended them out a bit to get beyond it.

    He was,
he jumped ship about 2 years ago to become a teacher. He was ?middle? management I think.
Great guy, hopefully he buys a taco and can come on here and talk shop.
he's also not afraid of chopping things up, that Heep was a trail buggy, he had to trailer it. He also built his transfer case doubbler from scratch ( I think its called a doubbler ). Had a machine shop cut out the gears according to his specs.

real nice guy, just had no time to run his buggy, now he's looking for more of a Daily that he can take back a few trails now and again. I suggested he get the DCSB so he can fit his Wife and 3 kids in there.

Hey Guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

I have to say, it’s exciting to see such an active NS taco community. Some of you have probably seen me roaming the valley. Voodoo Blue Dbl Cab with a Prinsu rack and Weboost trucker antenna. Also depending on the day; some amber and white 360 flashers. Anyway, I’ve been patiently waiting to burn through my factory warranty on my 2020, which will happen in the next couple months (50k per year can do that :( ), at which point I’m going to be looking into lifting it. The issue that I have run into is that my insurance broker has told me that I won’t be covered if the truck has any suspension modifications that aren’t approved by Toyota.

My question for the group is,has anyone else ran into this issue, I’ve done some searching and it seems that certain providers will cover some ride heights. However, by all accounts my current provider (travellers) does not and unfortunately I’ve got an at fault on my record, so switching isn’t an option for a while. As well, does anyone know anything about a “Factory Approved Lift”. One thought I had was to buy the TRD Pro Fox lift.

Nice taco! What part of the valley? I used to live in port williams.

I would assume the trd pro fox would be the only option like you stated.

Beautiful truck, and nice to see another employed in the highest calling... carrying canoe!

Insurance: I am with Allstate. When I asked they had to dig a bit but my lift isn't a problem. I think that for some reason 4" is a magic number, and most of us are under 3". I would strongly recommend getting in touch with Deanne MacKenzie Deanne@archwayinsurance.ca from Archway. She specializes in insurance for modified vehicles and drives a modded Jeep herself. Even if this isn't the time to make a switch, it's probably wise to have an expert weigh in, maybe there are options we don't know about.

Lift options: really depends on what you want to do. If you are not convinced right now that the TRD PRO Fox lift is what you really want, I'd consider waiting until you can get the setup that is right for you. That is just based on my own experience, your goals are not necessarily the same as mine! From my perspective, a lift that isn't the one you want might just be a waste of time and money that you could put into other mods you could do right now. I just want to go on the record to say that no lift is a waste, just that I have changed my coils three times now and with no regrets it would have been better to have skipped two of those changes...

In other news, anyone want to buy a very slightly used pair of OME 883 coils? :)

I've seen you, in fact, I've seen you several times! And my gf LOVES the look if your truck with the Prinsu rack because I originally thought you were the gentleman that lives up the road from me.
Insurance companies are a strange thing, I didn't tell mine when I lifted my '13, I'm almost certain this very topic was dicussed in this thread years ago? I guess you could always call and inquire with Gary Steeves out of NB, they insure all kinds of toys. I insured my MKIV Supra through them after I wrote off my first Tacoma. There are certain stipulations that you need to abide by, but no harm in calling.
Toyota told me the only thing a lift would affect as far as warranty goes were the parts directly affected by that lift, so CVs, probably rear axle parts, they said nothing about engine/trans, and oddly enough I destroyed a CV boot doing one of our trips with Mitch/Duncan, took it in for an oil change, free boot covered under warranty, not one word about the gobs of mud and earth I had acquired from Pipeline/Myra. I wonder if Toyota changed they warranty details when they announced lifting a Tundra voids any and all warranty, hear about that one at work

    I live in Coldbrook

I’m with you on this one canoehead, I’m really only looking to do it the once, and a lift certainly isn’t instrumental to my life. That 4inch magic number is also what I had seen in few places online. I’ve got some stock tires I was going to wear out first too. Really I’m just putting out some feelers now, see what difficulties others have had.

Also, totally unrelated but I was just searching 883s and came across this post - didn't even notice the author until a couple of replies later :p

Thought I would post an update, I was able to find somebody in Dartmouth to fabricate the rack for me. Rack is aluminum, the brackets are steel. The pass through cabinet is fully removable. if I move the last cross brace up some to be fulling under the tent, I can open the back section of the tonneau cover on the truck bed. I am not sure if I will do that or leave it towards the back like I have in the picture without the tent. I am very happy with how it came out.

When the weather gets a little warmer and I can get back into the garage to build some stuff, then I will post some more pictures of the completed project.

Thankfully we are not the first ones to lift a Taco, so most of the combinations have been tried and documented.

some ones else's direct experience with Billy 5100’s and 886’ on a 4cyl with NO steel bumper sealed the deal for me since that is the exact combo I was planning on running and they had their setup for 2+ years

speaking about insurance, I never checked with mine, but its only 3” and I still have the sway bar. I might be naive about this but wouldn't they have to prove the lift was at fault? I mean if I'm rear ended its not the lifts fault.

    Welcome @swolbrahammer

I was just thinking about you this week, looks pretty slick!!

what kind of tent is that? I said I would never, but after last weekends camping with @Canoehead its clear my “doghouse” isn't going to fit me and my two boys for too much longer

Dan, those pictures are amazing, and that rack is sexy!!! It looks quite sturdy and I like how it's adjustable!

I have a feeling I could convince my Superior that we need an RTT once camping season is upon us, I just need to double check if my ARE shell is reinforced
