    alright,
so the old muffler / cat is on its way out. I'm getting a P0420 code, and I can literally hear the honeycomb material in my CAT "jingle and jangle"
so she's holding on by a thread.

anyone got any experience with Bosal?
I'm not really concerned with sound, but rust resistance.

Rock Auto has a Bosal Cat for $550, and I *think* I can get the Bosal Cat-back exhaust from wrenchmonkey.ca for $200, but if this stuff rusts out after 3 years then I've wasted my money ( considering OEM lasted 10 years )

All the Bosal stuff from Rock Auto is bolt on, and direct replacement, so really, no fuss no muss.

    so.
anyone know some one who's had Bosal for any length of time?

    I seen that thread too,
I did some snooping, and OP in another thread mentioned how he moved to a "dry" climate so he's not the best judge on longevity.
I then seen a post on IH8Mud where some one had their sutff rot out at the welds in 5 years. Then on a BMW forum, some member bought the bosal parts ( muffler assembly ) but left it in the garage for a year or so, and all the welds were rusting just from sitting. Does not give me warm fuzzies.

I'm looking on Toyota Parts Direct for replacement stuff. So far the bill is up to $1400 :puke:

BUT.... If I don't have to mess with it for another 10 years.... then that would be nice..... that's only like $140 per year.

    decisions decisions.
at least the code has not come back in two days..... that's a bonus!

Hey Guys, I don't want to be a chronic cross poster but wanted to let you know of a Canada wide group buy that I am currently running and have noticed that Eastern Canada has been missing from the current roster of members. Details liked below; 12 more days left.

@D2. Thats a shame man :( OEM parts are so frigging expensive, pre covid tax! I wonder if a custom made exhaust from an actual exhaust shop would lost as long as an OEM one? Surely they would use quality tubing given they do live in NS. There is a fellow here in the Valley that does amazing work for a crazy good price, I'm not at work this week bit I can dig up a name for you if nothing else

    Check out my build
I had an AFE cat-back and it was labelled "stainless steel" but the muffler rotted out after 4 years. Replaced the muffler with the cheapest I could find since I figure it too will rust out in a few years.

So fender trimming is going great (insert sarcasm), the truck has been well blessed today, I shall commence my sermon tomorrow at 0900, don't be late for church kids!!! I've been very patient with these fenders, they're getting the angle grinder tomorrow. If I can remember, I'm going to bang that pinch weld while I'm in there too. Any advice from someone who's already cut theirs? Maybe make a small cut at the top to make it a little easier?

I have contact info for a person that is, IMHO, the single best person to go to for exhaust work on any vehicle. I don't want to post his name and number on here publicly but if you want it drop me a PM and I can give you his details. He lives down in the Aylesford area near me. He works out of his home but he used to be the lead guy at Bus Boys Muffler on Hwy 1 (for many many years) just a bit up from West King's High school(if you insist on having your stuff done at an actual exhaust shop these guys are good and cheap). I've gotten lots of work done by him and I can attest he only uses the best materials and he is by far the best exhaust guy I have ever met. When my flex pipe went on my Lexus it was 750 for the part from Lexus and then install on top of that. I got it done by him for just under $200 parts and labor all in and it lasted over the next 5 years until I sold it no issues. He has all of the gear at his house to do work on literally any vehicle you own and need exhaust work done on. He generally only works on evenings and weekends I believe but his shop has like 7 different lifts and is bigger then his house lol and he can literally make up a custom exhaust for you in no time. I HIGHLY recommend you make him your go to guy to get exhaust work done if you can travel to Aylesford to let him work on it. PM for contact info!

    *****Finally Done welding*********
it took way longer then I thought, but the building part is done.

    mid hoop,
    antenna tabs
block off plates for the "fogs" ( got frustrated with finding the right lights, and getting them to fit so figured this was a problem for future D2 and must made some block off plates.)

I was going to send out an invite to get people to come down this way and do the same trails we did last time I invited people but this time hit the harder muddy trail in the middle and then also head to the fire roads out south when we are done the trails on the north mountain. Obviously not going to be for a bit longer now...
