I should have went OR in the first place. Haha.
14 model with NAV, ATRAC, elocker. TRD OR version has better braking since it is hydraulically assisted vs vacuum assisted in the TRD sport.

I thought of putting in a detroit truetrac but thought of just going TRD OR. Then I read that the OR 8" is weaker than the Sport 8.4" etc from heavy use.

It's going to be a PITA and expensive to switch trucks as I would like to keep my wheels, front bumper and whatever else makes sense. the sliders are staying as they are bolted on. TRD supercharger will also probably stay on but who knows.

Hi Robert....not sure if you saw the above post, but just wanted to warn you that there will be plenty of vulgar language and inappropriate stories, as well as plenty of shooting. Since you stated you will be bringing your son, just wanted you to be aware of this. Don't let that scare you guys off though, you are more than welcome to join the festivities :D

Hello, all. I'm new to this forum. I'm always interested in wheeling trips/camping trips. The trips I truly enjoy really only have three requirements:

    1. I only like to camp/wheel in remote or fairly remote back country areas
    2. I only like to camp near a fresh water source that holds fish....creek, river, or lake.
    3. No children. Alcohol and guns don't mix with children.

The reason for #2 is I am a fly fisherman/fisherman, and even if I go up with no one else that wants to fish....I'm still putting a hook in the water. Occasionally I like to harvest a meal from the land when I camp....makes me feel manly :p Anyone else on this form into stuff like that too? I'm even willing to teach people and share my equipment.

I also do trips to Colorado...the wheeling up there is pretty fun too.

Welcome to TW and the Az section Neal. I agree with all 3.....unfortunately this trip will not be near water or I should say any water that is flowing and has fish.

I fly fish as well...and I'll out fish your ass any day :D You ever fished Lee's Ferry, or the Juan, or perhaps SC? Looks like you and I may have to plan a few fishing trips. Now is a good time to be hitting SC, saw a 31" rainbow pulled out of there very recently...of course it is all C&R till March I believe

I'd be thrilled to go out on a fly fishing trip with you. Me and my fly fishing buddy get out about 2-3 times per month. I'm as into fly fishing as I am into off-roading my Taco...best of all I often get to do both on the same trip. Lately I've been targeting rim country creeks for wild browns, and some hold over bows. It's funny you ask though, I'm definitely gearing up for a trip to all three places; Lee's Ferry, San Juan, and SC. I unfortunately have not fished any of those three streams yet....and it's killing me.

I do some alpine fishing in Colorado that leads to some very bad ass off-roading and camping. The lakes and streams I target up there are usually above timberline and have very little angling pressure and wild cutthroats (some of which are sub-species only native to Colorado).

We're actually going up to the rim this weekend. Unfortunately it will be more hiking than off-roading on this trip.

Sorry for the lengthy post everyone :)

Well unfortunately you will have to wait a while to fish the Ferry, it has been closed with the government shut down, meanwhile the Juan and SC are still open. I haven't done much fishing in Colorado, most of my fly fishing is done up in Montana and Wyoming, I recently got back from a 6 week road trip up to Montana...some of the best fishing ever up there.

If you are interested in fishing the Juan let me know, I *may* be headed up there the 25th - 27th.
