I have the 3.5” duro bump for my 1” block. I just ordered the new AAL and 1/2” shim, I emailed duro bump and asked them if I would need to get the 4.25” and they said no, the 3.5 would be fine. But their site says the 4.25 is for a 2” lift.

Thanks for the info, I went ahead and ordered the 4.25, I was thinking about going w/ the 3.5 too. As for now, I'm only running the 1.5" AAL w/o the shim... I guess it would be alright since the taller bump stop would just prevent bottoming out anyways :notsure:

Thanks for posting, I reached out to them too... I think I’ll just stick with the 4.25 and the 8.85 ubolts that I ordered lol

I got the 4.25 yeah!! About an inch of compression before the axle/bump goes high enough to touch the frame. But it’s smooth

Awesome man, I hope they ship fast... I'm eager to install my AALs!

EDIT did you get the 8.85 ubolts too?

I got the shortest ones! They worked for me. I left the overload in
But get the longer ones if you feel like they’ll be too short

Just received my HS AAL today. Can't wait to get this installed along with my new shocks/springs, new wheels and tires.

Installing the 1.5" 3 leaf AAL's on a OEM Leaf pack and TRD Pro Fox shocks, do I need to replace my bumpstops?

    You don’t HAVE to
But you’ll flex all the way til you hit it and it’ll feel awful cause the stock bump stops are like metal. Aftermarket ones make the ride so plush and smooth even when bottoming out

Contacted Curtis after I ordered and he recommended using their 3.5 instead of their 4.25... so it looks like I'll be getting their 3.5 ones too! Either way, definitely excited to get them in and install altogether w/ the AALs

Any of you guys include installing axle shims for these AALs or is that really not needed?

From what I have read, and from what HS sells (1.5" and 2") only the 2" lift requires shims - The 1.5" 3 leaf progressive do not - note HS says when installing these that they (1.5") are not intended for use with the OEM overload leaf. So I'd imagine if you left the OEM overload leaf in you would need a shim do to the extra height. I will be taking the OEM overload leaf out when I install mine. Also - HS includes the shim when you purchase the 2" - another indication that the 1.5" does not require a shim as they are not included in package. GL.

There's a bit of confusion here, I think. The 3 leaf AAL kit will provide approximately 1.5" of lift. The 2" version is the exact same AAL, but you just need to add the half inch "shims" to complete the full 2" of lift. The "shims" are basically a very small lift block - they are the same thickness as the factory overload spring, but they are not as long, so they don't stick out further/longer than the smallest/bottom leaf in the AAL. They are perfectly flat, so they do not change the angle of the axle the way a traditional shim would, and they actually attach to the bottom of the leaf pack (and become part of the leaf pack) using the center pin, rather than simply being sandwiched between the bottom of the leaf pack and the top of the axle (the way a traditional shim would be).

I purchased the 3 leaf AAL and the extra half inch "shim," and installed them about a week ago. My rear measured 37" from the floor to the bottom center of the fender well, and 21.5" from the center of the hub to the bottom center of the fender before the install. I just measured again (waited a week and a few hundred miles for everything to settle), and it's currently sitting at 38.75" from the floor to the fender, and 23.25 from the center of the hub to the bottom of the fender. So I got about 1.75" of lift from the setup with the extra half inch "shims," and I am running about 250 extra lbs in the rear vs. stock (diamondback HD cover, OEM cargo divider, and toolbox inside the bed loaded up with some gear). I do not have any driveline wobble or vibration at all, so I will not be adding any extra shims to correct the pinion angle.

Here is a photo of my leaf pack with the AAL and the extra 1/2" shim installed. You can see the shim at the very bottom of the pack, where the overload spring would normally be. They are not angled, like a traditional shim. Just a very small lift block.

Did any of you guys apply any automotive grease between the leafs before install or do you guys just install as is?

    TIA and HNY

I just installed as-is. We barely get any rain anyway, so I'm not too worried about it. I've never had the best of luck with grease in my leaf packs on other vehicles. It makes a huge mess and is a pain to deal with, and your leaf packs end up squeaking anyway within a couple of months. So far, no squeaks for me. We'll see if all that rain we got over the past 2 days changes that within the next few days.

I applied grease between each leaf, took maybe an extra 30 min. No squeaks yet.
