It was my birthday, so the wife and i go to a buddhist temple. It is a 30 minute drive up a steep, muddy, winding mountain road. Steeper than roads in san francisco. The truck we were in died out and we were sliding down the mountain backwards for 30 feet i said sh!t. We got to the drop off point, the started the 6 hour hike about 2 miles up and 2 miles back. Not exactly stairs. One tough hike and a lot of fun. About every 1/4 mile you stop buy stuff, write down stuff pit on a shrine and off to the next one. So after being up 30 hours we start back home. We stop for diesel fuel at a shell station, get half a tank to fill up the truck. 10 minutes after leaving the truck starts to smoke a lot. Ok no big deal its a diesel with a bunch of work done to it. Turbo, intercooler stand alone ecu. We try to pass a semi going up hill with another semi on my butt. The rattling and knocking was incredible.

I get home it feel like it is has a dead cylinder, the exhaust smells strange. Wtf, i pull the fuel cap off and wa la it smells like gas. Fuuuuuuuuuuuun pull the tank drain it flush the system, new fuel and filter. No change still on 3 cylinders, a piston is either cracked or has a hole in it. I email shell corporate, about an hour later i get an email requesting my number, im expecting a call monday.

I saved 2 gallons of fuel it smells like 2 cycle pre mix.

Yes happy birthday, we fuked your engine up. Either she the attendent put in the wrong fuel or when they filled their tank they put gas in the diesel tank.

Im sure i will get run around, typical thailand style, and it is my fault, then it will be time to go after shell america.

    It should be interesting.

She who? A station attendant? You don't watch to see what they are doing?

Or your wife? Which would negate the whole deal anyway.

That would make for a long line of similar issues from other owners.

Why? Do they own the distribution? Tankers/drivers are usually contractors, not employees of the oil company. (unless that's not the case there) If that's the case here you're not going to get beyond the contractor. Again assuming the in ground tank was the problem.

I suspect the thread will be interesting. It's why I'm in early. Don't let us down. We've had lot's of other interesting threads start around here that we never heard the final results of. Don't be that guy.

Good luck. You'll have a birthday to remember!

PS. What I'm curious about is why such a bad boy truck couldn't make it up the hill to begin with?

Yes a gas station attendant. All ststions are full service, it must be somewhat common here, 3 people said ill bet they put in benzine (gas)

You have to take a shuttle truck, trust me it is a dangerous ride. 3 people died last month.

It is worse at 2 am with slippery mud and dirt roads.

I got yamaha to give me a new motorbike, after the voided my warranty.
trust me i can be a nightmare, i will find out monday when corporate calls.

damn... a misfuel by the gas station employee. Gonna be a tough one. Is the employee an employee of Shell corporate or Shell the franchise?

    Today's update.
So i call shell talk to same person, cctv shows they put in diesel.

Oh no they didn't i know your cameras don't show each pump close enough to tell. You are looking at a receipt.

So now they know i am not a pushover.

Ok bring your truck to toyota, ok ill do that but i want an email stating you will pay the diagnostic bill, if toyota says it is bad fuel then we will pay.. all of the fuel shell put in was taken out, the system flushed and a new filter put on, so the fuel is no longer in the truck. I'm not bringing it to toyota to get stuck paying a bill. I said we all make mistakes if i make one at my job i make it right, i am a nightmare I'm not going away. I explain I'm such a nighmare yamaha told me to pick out a new motorcycle when they messed uo my motorcycle and then cancelled my warranty, i said i got nothing but the run around in thailand so i went to corporate, 2 days later the dealer that cancelled my warranty was filling out paperwork for my new motorbike.

I have the fuel that was taken out of my tank with 9 witnesses including 3 mechanics. So i run over to the shop and let her talk to the mechanic, two said benzine the owner wasn't there.

So they want a fuel sample to have sent to bangkok to be tested.

I said im not going away you can smell it is gas, if i have to ill go to corporate shell in america and rattle cages. I find out it is not that uncommon, she said they have other claims. I said im not thai, im not going away.

Soon as i ask for her boss i got more reaponce, including two calls am i happy with the time frame of friday.

Yes things take time, friday is good.

Just waiting for test results, it is about a 60 benzine (gas) 40% diesel mix.

    Anyway more updates friday.

Crazy crazy man how things work outside of US. I don't like full service anything. I want to be the only one who performs anything on my vehicles or possessions. I hope you get them to take care of this correctly.

Don't they have different fuel nozzles for gas and diesel? The size a that does not allow to fill with different fuel type?

In Poland I have to pay attention (at first before I get used to it): Gas nozzles are green in Poland, Diesel is black (quite opposite what I get used to in USA)

Yes black or blue here, all it takes is one handle over and the lady puts in the wrong fuel. I normally go to caltex since it is a seperate pump. I am not the only claim they have, plus 3 people said ill bet they put in benzine. So I'm guessing it is not uncommon.
