I have a simple answer to this that has always served me well over the years...

DCSB- looks better with shell, by far
DCLB- could go either way. Totally depends on need/usage as others have stated

Why did you make another thread about this? If you like the shell keep it, if not sell it and stop making threads about unless it's a for sale thread.

I like it both ways. If I could afford one I would have to use in the winter months since it rains or snows 7mo a year. Really like that style.

I had a shell, sold it. I got it for the same reason everyone does. Dry secure space. But honestly the truck is more versital without it.

Depends on how you use it. My shell has been on since 2006 although I do need to replace the seals when I get back to the US. I leave camping gear and a carpeted sleeping floor (not raised) in it year-round since I sleep in the back a good bit when I'm home, especially during hunting season. I have Yakima racks on the top and if that's not good enough I have a utility trailer but I can pull the shell off if I really need to.

My truck came with a Leer cap when I bought it. I didn't like the look, so I removed it and sold the cap. I put a hard tonneau cover on the bed which is useful and looks better, but there are times when I wish I still had the cap and regret selling it.

I am voting to keep it and store it then you have it when you need it.

I'll wait for your next post on whether you should keep the shell and I'll post in there. Maybe let the decision maker (your wife) decide what goes on your truck.

I had a tonneau for years - finally went to a camper shell on my DCSB and I won't go back. I don't care about looks - having extra dry locking storage is why got it.

If I'm hauling something that won't fit in the bed with the shell on, it's probably easier to haul it with the trailer.

Mr. Murphy states that within a week of you selling the cap, you WILL have a reason to have it on the truck for SOMETHING! Isn't that the way that Murphy's Law ALWAYS works???
