It’s easier to supercharge the N/A 3.5, which takes care of the torque and power issue.

I’ve owned 5 1st gens, 2 2nd gens, and 5 3rd gens. I love them all. I’m sure I’ll love the 4th gen. That said, anytime Toyota has come out with a new vehicle in the last 2 decades, the first 2-3 years are met with some challenges. A Tacoma will consistently deliver a “higher than average” return and stronger resale value than other midsize trucks. I expect my 23 MT Pro Solar Octane to hold its value very well. Be it 2 years from now or 20.

I can’t help but feel like Toyota has misjudged their market a bit recently. The whole incremental approach thing would lend itself to a new vehicle coming to market and then spending the next 15 years improving it year after year in an iterative way. The tundra changed so much at once and they suffered some QA issues. The Tacoma will likely be the same. Anyone who sells a 3rd gen in 2024 or 2025 should expect to do pretty well.

for what it’s worth. The 2021 TRD Pro Lunar Rock Tundra I owned would be worth about 15K more than msrp right now if I still had it. Boy do I miss that truck.

Carvana is not the best used car value source. Their trade in values are heavily based on inventory levels.

Have you looked at Tundra resale values (also not great), the whole market in general is down, not just Tacomas.

Glad I sold my 2nd gen this July. I caught the peak for trade in and got MSRP on the Off-road. My truck was 13 years old and only lost about $9k in value since new. I doubt we’ll see that again anytime soon.

Same here on a Silverado trade in with 120k miles. I took possession of ‘23 Taco in early June at MSRP with port ad ons. I’m sure I got premium on that trade even with transmission issues and I wouldn’t get near the same trade price now. Interestingly, the dealer I bought from just posted the first 2024 for sale. No market adjustment. But the 2024 listed is the same Sport model and if you would ad the port ad ons I have, the 2024 truck is $6500 more. In six months. Glad I moved last spring to get one in June.

I've been looking at used 3rd gens and I can't figure out why they're asking the same price for a 2017 as a 2021 with similar miles? Seems a little ridiculous but I'm sure people are buying them

I was wondering what a new 23 is going for if there are any on the lot? I've seen some listed, so I take it that there are some out there. Can't believe they would be sitting there unsold and not being driven, and they probably want like used pricing on them, so no discounts.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
3rd Gen is dead already. RIP, suckers.

    Just like your 2010 lol
In all reality what does everyone expect for a vehicle. It’s a liability not an asset. We’re not buying these vehicles to drive and beat and torture to resell at what we bought it for or more. Live life, drive the truck, blow it up and buy a new one. Cheers

I’ve been to the dealership to look at the new Land Cruiser, not really sold on it, but I am shocked by how many unsold 2024 Tacomas there are on the lot and they keep piling up.
