Ya ever feel like there's a gray cloud over your head and no matter what you do, life just fxxks you? I swear that's me the past 6 weeks...

So I decided today to bust out the saws and buck up some deadfall on the land. Being careful, but obviously not careful enough, I managed to get a piece of wood to bounce up and....

    KIMG0636.jpg

    BINGO! Nailed it!

The last thing I need right now is to be spending more money. But seeing as I don't have a garage, I can't just put this off and deal with it later. I do have 2 other vehicles to drive in the meantime, but still.

Anyone had to replace one of these rear windows at the stealership or at least know what one will set me back?

Sorry for the rant. Just pissed over a stupid mistake. Time to grab a beer...

Do you have full glass coverage? If not - and if you don't use your slider much - you can replace it with a non-slider for less money.

Hope you got glass coverage. I’ve done this twice now in the last 4 years. I cut and haul alot of firewood. I have a $250 deductible for glass

I feel your pain. 2 weeks ago. Torsion spring breaks on garage door. Following week someone backed into our 4runner and drove off and this week someone decided to cut out my rear catalytic converter.

You can take some thick plastic and duct tape it over the windows to defer paying for the fix... I did this for a few months on my SnugTop when I was out on a trail and barely ran over the end of a large stick that happened to be sitting on another one and it see-saw'd up and popped a side window out.

I smashed out my back window with a wooden shipping pallet on November; USAA is my insurance company, and I have full coverage. I have zero deductible for comprehensive claims, and they sent Safelite to me my house to replace the back window...

My replacement rear slider was a little over $400, but my insurance company paid for all of it...

This is exactly what headache racks are made for and named after. Glad you still got a noggin. Tough break.

Some of us big city folk call this a permanent repair. Duct tape is more commonly called car tape.

I feel ya. My family had one for the record books last week and part of this week. Last Thursday a guy blew a red light as I was turning and nailed me. The body shop can't even look at the truck till APRIL! Next day I passed my CDL test. Wednesday mom found the only pole in the parking lot at the store. Yesterday we drove 8 hours/400 miles to look at a replacement truck just to find out the salesman lied to us and it was in way worse shape than the pics showed!:frusty:

You know, I'm not sure to be honest. I have full coverage through Erie Insurance. I never use insurance, so I'm not even sure what my deductible is. My cousin owns the agency so a quick call could sort that out on Monday.

Damn man, hating for you too. I just dumped 3500 into repairs on my Jetta, 2000 into my diesel van a month before and I'm a painter, self employed, solo, and I had a minor sinus cold for 3 weeks that kept me home. And I live solo. When it rains, it pours...

400 isn't terrible. I just wonder what a Toyota dealership wants to remove and replace. Maybe some YouTube videos could show me how to do it myself and save the labor fees.

My '11 has a bad clock spring. I watched people remove and replace them in 30 minutes, yet Toyota wants something around $400 in labor to do it. Unreal...

Yeah, I'm aware. I like the minimalist, stock look, but if I can't be careful enough loading the bed, I guess a headache rack is in order. Aside from being "more careful", I did learn to park the truck facing uphill, which I normally do. So much easier to bust out windows facing downhill.

Being a painter, I have all kinds of plastic sheeting. I may be putting it to use soon with some heavy duty frog tape.

Damn man, that sucks. I hope everyone was okay.
Salesman... Ha. When I bought my TRD off road, the salesman confirmed the price was 14,200. After I drove 5 hours to check it out and purchase, I was told the price was 16,700. "Oh, there's a little disclaimer at the bottom of our ads saying we're not responsible for errors". I still bought it as it was the nicest truck I had looked at in 5 months and the price was still reasonable. 14,200 would have been a steal.

I broke the plastic clasp for my rear slider years ago, and inquired about replacing it. The Toyota dealer informed that it was not a replaceable part and I would have to replace the whole window at a cost of like $800; I have no idea if this included labor, but I used Gorilla Glue until my mishap last November...

Until I get the Tacoma to the shop to fix it, I came up with this after cleaning everything out and vacuuming up the glass.

    KIMG0637.jpg

And to help minimize the eyesore that it is (and waterproof it) I painted it black.

    KIMG0638.jpg

It'll do until I call insurance tomorrow and get something scheduled up for replacement.
