It's not about whether your pro or anti gay, its about being againt the stigma of hate itself.

Personally: The video makes me laugh, but yea I agree. The swearing kids does do more harm then good. But kids relate to kids, thats the point. Get rid of the hate young and you wont have it when your older.

More importantly, hot Lesbians are f*cking awesome.

Point of this video, however wrong it was presented, is to demonstrate the obvious which is flawed thinking when it comes to protecting values of marriage in general.

I personally believe that divorce should be outlawed. Statistically speaking as of 2000 (have yet to look at 2010 census numbers) as much as 50% people in usa were divorced at least once. In some states divorce rate was as high as 75%. Taking one step back... it is very hard to take some politicians seriously when they talk about defending values of marriage when they are on 4th marriage themselves or when members of their own immediate family is defending the opposite. You know who I am talking about.

 

Outlawing divorce would be a difficult thing, people change when they grow older, and people grow apart. Thats the biggest thing you learn while dating in order to try and find your "The One".

On the other hand, if you made a 1 year minimum must be dating in order to get married, you'd cut down on all those weekend bullsh*t marriages.

haha you are right, though natural or not was not the reason i posted this. With or without bullying, some people will always feel alienated and take their lives, of this fact I have no doubt. Bullying in itself though, thats just a part of the puzzle that no one should encourage.

 

does anyone think this video is a little hypocritical. these people seem very hateful towards people who are not friendly towards gays. now don't get me wrong, i personally don't have anything against gay people, live and let live. but i do not think that fighting hate with more hate is the way to go.

This is what i think about gay marriage personally. i think it is a personal issue and i honestly the government, local, state and federal should have nothing to do with it. if people want to love each other and marry each other, why do they even need to get approval from the state in the first place. live and let live. i guess you could argue the tax issue, but then again i disagree with income taxes too. maybe the problem is that the state is involved way too much in our lives.

Unfortunately today's marriages do not last long enough to grow apart with time or after kids grow up. Unfortunately average marriage today does not last more than 8-10 years. To top it off people (at least in this country) have children in their very late 20's to mid 30's. At time of divorce average age is about 30 years old. Obvious downside is that after divorce you are stuck with single moms and dads who have been picked clean by the lawyers. Statistically speaking 2nd marriage has a higher chance of ending up in divorce than the first one and reasons sited are virtually identical to 1st time divorces. In the end divorces are ugly (for the most part), children are affected, families are torn, custody disputed, alimony unpaid etc etc.

You brought up a very interesting issue of difficulty of outlawing divorce. And there will be difficulty with that because it will be met with even more hostility than trying to legalize gay marriages. A lot of people who are married do not have children and significant majority of those CHOSE not tho have children while only minority CANT have children. Which brings me to the point of... is marriage a way to build a family or is marriage a way for 2 people to get tax breaks legally, get benefit of "family" health insurance legally, get a benefit of no longer saying (through the nose) "my boyfriend or my girlfriend"?

As far as I am concerned (coming from divorced family, having divorced neighbors, friends, co-workers....

A marriage should be a contract that is issued (as it is by local government) and it should stipulate that

a-you are OBLIGATED to have children in under 3 years of marriage. Any consequent childless years of marriage should be heavily taxed (if wife is within child bearing age of course)
b-marriage should stipulate MANDATORY intimacy to prevent and discourage adultery. (As sited up to 40% of divorces are caused by cheating spouses). Obviously bad intimacy or lack of any results in either spouse seeking it elsewhere.
c-there should be MANDATORY counseling for military spouses. Many of our soldiers return home to find their loved ones humping their lives into other relationships.
d-divorces should be outlawed UNLESS there is substantial proof that divorce or dissolve of marriage is the only option. (ie death, documented long history of abuse etc). Divorce option should, however still be available for people WITH a stipulation that BOTH parties lose every single thing they have. All the assets, all homes, cars, bank money etc should be seized to discourage divorces caused by either spouse trying to benefit financially.
e-IF divorced you should NOT be allowed to legally re-marry.

Now you might think that I am anti-marriage or something but on the contrary.. I feel that institution of proper marriage laws will discourage divorces, cause people to reconcile differences , preserve sanctity of marriage etc You should not even have to consider a possibility of divorce before marrying in the first place. If marriage should be mandated by mandatory pre-marriage counseling then so be it. If marriage should be regulated then so be it... it just seems odd that divorce is a global epidemic and more importantly a national epidemic in our country.
