how about no state sponsered marriage or divorce, only a personal social contract between 2 people. if marriage is not sponsered by the state there would be no tax advantages to it. people fall in love and they fall out of love, and sometimes they end up hating eachother. it is human nature, and it will always be like that. as much as some people would like you can't legislate human nature away.

 

There seem to be so many things wrong with this. Marriage is not necessarily about having kids. You are on to something about counseling - couples should have to go through pre marriage counseling to see if they are even ready to be married

What do you expect me to say? What is the purpose of marriage if not to build a family? Family is defined by husband and wife and children. Even for those of you who are religious... it says "till death do us part" and not "till divorce do us part".

And now we are back to 1885. Back then we did not have 2 money hungry lawyers and a judge deciding future of a family. Today we do. Today it is all about who gets to have what during the divorce, who gets to pay alimony, who gets to keep the children and pets, who gets to take care of remaining credit debt and who gets to benefit the most from divorce. That is not what marriage is and should be about. Marriage is about preserving the family and not splitting it. My argument is not about marriage but about inevitable statistical probability of divorce affecting today's marriages. I am sure that others may disagree with said statement.

 

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the actual "Marriage" commitment is supposed to be about two people loving each other

 

Aye, but what is preventing gay people from marrying in the land of the free? Other people. Other people who take idea of 2 people loving each other and define who those loving people are. Same exact people who were against inter-racial marriage not that long ago. Same exact people who somehow accepted idea of inter-racial marriage and same exact people that will eventually accept idea of gay marriage just like they accepted other things.

Many people say that they should have a right to marry and divorce anyone they want but they also walk a thin line between doing what they want and imposing what they want on others either by voting or by peer pressure. And that is partly why this controvercial video was created in the first place.

 

So , I don't understand , you are OK with gay marriage or not ?

 

Yaric oh nevermind. this is all B.S. marriage is about 2 ppl. not worth getting into it. Im going on 23 yrs. nothung 2 do with church or state. Its what my wife and i have been able to overcome. Too many ppl get married and bail out when it gets a little rough. Its a fact of life and thats never going to change. forcing ppl to have kids will only create chaos. some ppl should not have kids. congrats to those that make it work.

maybe we as a species are getting past the institution of marriage. i mean honestly what does it really matter anyway. you can be with someone and have kids without being married. i think most people do it because according to society, it is the thing to do if you have been with someone for awhile. and of course the state it promotes because of the tax incentives. ultimately i believe in liberty, so therefore people should be able to live their lives they way they want without anyone interfering, unless their choices endanger somebody elses liberty. in a free society we must be tolerant of the people around us. you wouldn't want someone to tell you that you couldnt be with the person you love, so why would you tell someone they couldn't be with the person they love.

but that being said i don't believe that they gay community should combat gay bashing, by christian bashing or conservative bashing. when they do that, they are no different than the people they are trying to stand up against.

I'm not down with using kids to spread their message and having said kids use cuss words to try and get their point across.

 

Just because you personally do not support gay marriages does not mean that it should be outlawed. If we spent as much attention on solving real issues in this country as our politicians do on trying to erase gay from our society then we would not have half the issues we have today. But then of course I guess you prefer to catch up to today's news on FOX which is as well know a source of information that is more "valid" than that of CNN's. But then again you chose what you watch or do not watch just like you chose what you do or do not do. Likewise other people should do what they chose to do... be it marrying a person of their own gender or otherwise. Or are we consciously modifying our own values written in constitution that defend citizen's rights including a right to marry?!

 

On the part about being bullied and taking your own life: There are a lot of fat people (myself included) and there are a lot of gay people (myself not included), we/they all get bullied the same. I never hear about fat people killing them selfs. So grow the fuck up and don't be such a little bitch about it. Learn to stand up for yourself, like I did and you won't be bullied anymore. And if they keep doing it kick their ass. That is how it is takin care of and then you feel much better about yourself when no one is putting you down and if they want to they will think twice. I didn't even have to kick that much ass for people to stop fuckin with me.

Thats my experience. I have friends that are gay and if they where being fucked with I would stand up for them, and then they were left alone. And a lot of the time I didn't even have to kick the bulli's ass and they would get the message.
