Nut stuck on top of shock

    Intermittant wipers, fog lamps wired like factory, remote entry via SE Toyota Dealers kit installed.
    Why yes the very next morning. I was able to cut two slits in the boot using a mini hacksaw and then using a very hot soldering iron I burned the end of the slits to make an opening to get to the shock shaft. Then I got a small vice grip wrench onto the shaft and viola! was able to free the nut. You can see in the photo that there was no more shaft left above the nut to be able to stop the shaft from turning.
    The other pic is the coilover reassembled. I do think some folks responding to this thread do not grasp what the problem was. Also the drivers side Hitachi had been leaking. New shocks are great.[​IMG]

    I use a plasma cutter on my rear shock. They weren’t worth anything anyway
