Well this happened today

 

I've been thinking about picking up one or three of these. For the price it feels like it would be silly not to. The few reviews I've read say it's more comfortable than the G19 and no one has found any reliability issues yet.

You’re not kidding, I just dropped $200 on mags for it which got me a whopping 4 hahaha.

I’m in Oregon so I don’t have the July deadline you Washington folks do. I figure a half dozen is good for now while I cross my fingers the federal mag cap limit doesn’t make it through the senate. If it does I’ll have to make my wallet scream and buy some more.

A can is definitely in the plans for it later this year. I’ll probably do an Obsidian 45 so I can also use it on my HK45.

 

Damn i was going to say look for the KCI mp5 mags. Used to be able to find them for ~30 bucks each. But look slike they are the same price as the MKE/AP5 ones these days.

 

Yeah KCIs are like the same price now. I bought 4 MKE mags in addition to the 2 it came with. If a ban does go through I’ll probably get a handful of the Overwatch precision polymer mags. Otherwise I’ll just keep slowly acquiring MKEs.

I’ll probably get 2 Overwatch precisions eventually anyway to try but would prefer mostly metal mags.

 

Dayum I think I own the only H&K that takes $5 mags

 

So, I have my three targets. All gongs, what does everybody use to hold them up? Getting excited to do more shooting this summer.

I bend a piece of rebar into a U shape, hammer that into the ground, and hang my targets from it with a piece of heavy duty trucker tie down strap and carriage bolts. I picked up the strap off the side of the highway.

The strap works great because it can take a lot of rounds and still hold up vs when I used to use chain and you’d have to replace it after 1 hit. I’ve heard firehose works great too - same idea.

 

That definitely sounds like a cost effective way. I'm not looking to spend a bunch to be honest. I don't shoot enough to justify it

 

everything I have is some kind of bracket that allows you to build a hanger out of 2x4's. The legs fold for easy transport. You can even use those cheap brackets for making saw horses, those legs can fold too.

Then hang the steel from the 2x4 with thick rubber strips and carriage bolts. I still have some with chains but those get severed too easy.

 

Does anyone know if mags bought online have to be delivered before the 1st, or just ordered?

I’d wager in the end the manufactured date will be the only thing that matters. Which means plastic mags with molded manufactured dates stamped in will be the first to be regulated and metal mags with no mfg dates will never be regulated.

Hard to prove when it came into the state with no idea of when it was made.

Washington’s biggest saving grace will be if the fed mag cap limit doesn’t pass which includes mfg date stamping requirements.

edit:guess I forgot to consider the legalities and shipping cutoffs to Washington which I don’t know jack about. Derp. It was drink beer “team building” day at work.

 

In the end? I think we might have different priorities then.

If it follows what CA did they will try to ban usage of hi caps. I never had a cop ask me if my mags we're pinned, though I never gave them a reason to ask..
