Again, I'm a noob. How do you know where to ship a gun when buying online? I've called a few places around me and they told me most places won't accept that. Which obviously doesn't sound right.

 

When you are placing your order, it should have a list of their dealers on file. You can contact those FFLs and ask if they are accepting incoming online orders and how much they charge. Or, just Google gun shops that do private party transfers and start calling.
The seller will need to have a copy of the FFL for the dealer. So, I'd start by looking at who they already have on file.

 

i just use gunbroker to find local ffl, call or email to ensure they are 1. still operating 2. willing to do it.

since they have to hold proof of the transfer on file for like 10 years, they can decide how much it is worth it to them to do it. Some people are nearly free while others charge an arm and a leg

 

I use Pantel Tactical in Renton. When I buy online.

 

I think West Coast Armory charges something like $100 if you call and it isn't something they have in stock or can't get and $150 for things they have in stock or can order even if you can get it cheaper online. Plus they charge extra if you don't call to find out if they have it or can order it.
It'll take some calling around to find a shop that'll do it and more calling to find a reasonable price.

longshsot in yelm charged me $25 or a transfer but i think that's their military pricing for that

I’ve been using Fry Enterprises LLC in Snohomish County (near Woodinville). He charges $30 for transfers and is a really nice gentleman.

 

+1 for Precise Shooter. One of the best in the area. And yeah they moved to Woodinville sometime around 2020.

West Coast Armory is a good shop and range but they really don't seem to want to deal with internet transfers so they make you jump hoops.

 

Awesome. I tend to blow my tax return on gun stuff. Probably look into it more around tax season

I'm happy to help anyone print their own gear though. (while not being in-state, setting up your own rig/etc obv)

 

the easiest way is go to the checkout page and see what FFLs in your area are already in their system (there’s usually an FFL selection box/page). Then you can look up the shops and see who has the best rates and choose accordingly.

Pawn shops tend to have better rates than gun shops because they don’t care that you’re buying online instead of from them. A lot of gun shops try to discourage you from shopping online with higher transfer fees.

Some of the FFL transfer prices people have posted are nuts. I’m in Oregon so different market but my favorite FFL for transfers is a pawn shop that charges $25 for the first gun and $15 for each additional one. Oregon has a $10 state background check fee which is included in the $25.

 

Hmmmm that's fair. I'm only doing it online because of my first responder discount. Basically with the money I save online, I can buy a nice red dot

 

The Brownells FFL locator has a feature that will let you know the cost of the transfer. I don’t know how often it’s updated but you can always call and ask. I don’t know where you are located but I’m in West Seattle and drive to Snohomish because Fry Enterprises gives me a good price on transfers since I’m a veteran and LEO.

So for Oregon folks. Looking like we will become one of the most strict for gun access. Any idea when that law would go into effect? Seems like January 1…hopefully

 

it sucks, I'll try to read up on it today. I'm wondering if I can still get a non-resident concealed permit and if so can I bring my already owned standard cap mags down there.
